Arkansas Custom Knife Show 2013 - Show Us what you Got

;)You know that we are all going to visit your table to get a closer look anyway. You might as well post a full picture so we can enjoy it for a while.

Here's a Bowie that I will have there. This one has an asymetrical pattern to the damascus in that the top half of this bold "W" has no 15N20 between the layers. Also, when I welded the "W" layers I intentionally staggered the layers for effect. :)Just to be a little different.

If I can just find those other parts, and put 'em together,

John, thats already looking like one of if not the most aggressive looking blade from you. Interesting...

Sounds like we're all pretty much in the same boat...pieces...pieces of knives everywhere! Glad I'm not the only one:)

I'm going to go out on a limb already and say that knife is perfect... I guess what I mean to say is that the blade profile is about as "right" as it gets.

Well done John!

Here's one of my pieces. This brute is one that I just rough forged from W2.

This year the AKA is sponcoring a cutting competition with a new twist. The knives in addition to meeting the normal ABS guidelines must be a Bowie style, have natural handle material and be available for sale at the show. After getting some excellant tips on building a competition cutter from Jim Crowell & Lin Rhea at the AKA meeting last month at Crowell's shop, I was inspired to get in the competition. I have built three competition knives in the past. Each time after using it found something that I wish that I had done differently. :)We'll see how I do this time.

If you are in Little Rock early for the show you might want to take in the competition. They are always lots of fun.

Good luck to you Gary. I understand the competition is going to take place on Friday afternoon at the Historic Arkansas Museum.
Collectors, knifemakers, I recommend you visit the ABS Museum inside the HAM, you will not be sorry.

Looking forward to the show and meeting some of the folks from here. Here is one I will have for the show.
