Wow ....this has been covered before several times...... Kabar could easily make a better sheath and charge significantly more..... And micarta..... But a large part of what we love about our Beckers is the customization .... How we all make each knife our own.....op should open a sheath shop..... Lol
 
As stated before, of course better sheaths could be made, but then the price goes way up. I appreciate the honesty, but, I think you could have went about it a bit better than this. ;)

I don't really care if they improve the sheath. Sure, something like the tweeners would be nice, but if it increases the cost, eh....

It would be really cool if Kabar made several really nice sheaths and gave you the option to pick the one you wanted when you ordered, with the price depending on which one you picked, right? Well that's pretty much the situation. I like when Bladite calls it a "reuseable shipping container". It still beats the "leather" sheath that came with my SOG knife.

If I bought a great pair of shoes, I'm not gonna get upset because the laces suck, I'm just gomna get new laces.

And yes, whether you intended it or not, a little more respect for Ethan please.
 
Last I checked...Ethan designed knives, not sheaths. If you want to send it anywhere, send it to Olean. Your rage is misdirected, especically HERE of all places. You wouldn't like it if someone barged in your house and complained at you about the price of gas.

Beckerheads don't care about sheaths because the knife should be in your hand at all times, not languishing in a sub-par prison.

I concur.

I stuck it out with a sheath that dulled the blade until I got some kydex made for my 14 and modded the sheath for my 2 until I bought my Spec-Ops.

These type of threads seem to pop up all the time and just should be locked to avoid flaming.

BTW he has road building equipment. I don't think a blocked driveway would stay blocked long.

Fancy sheath and high price? "That's too much money. I could buy a (fill in the blank with a $150 to $200 knife) for that."
Workable sheath and low price? "My sheath makes me crabby. Please make me pay more."

Sheaths on the Camillus era knives were even worse, but I figured out how to live with them.
 
Whew, been an interesting evening, from what I can tell.

Ethan designs the knives, Kabar does the rest. I understand you feel the sheath is crappy. I too feel the same way, I don't like them. As far as sheaths go, it works. It fits the intended purpose, keep you safe from the knife and keep it with you.

If Kabar offered an upgraded sheath, for, say, $40, would you buy one? Instead of it coming with the knife and adding $40 to the overall price of the knife, but you could buy it seperately, would you buy it?

And, this driveway will never be covered in sheaths, to the point he can't use it. Ethan drives a big ass 4 wheel drive.

Try a polite, well versed email, to both Ethan and Kabar, I bet it will get you further than your post here did.

Send all your unwanted sheaths to me! I guess Ka-Bar has to save money somewhere and the sheaths take the blame for that but it does what its suposed to do, stop the knife from sticking you.

But see it IS RELEVANT. If that knife came with a "better" sheath the cost would be over $100. Being over $100 not as many people can afford to buy it. Therefore less people end up with Becker knives.

I am sure a lot of people would do the same. But when we do that, we are making the knife more personalized for us. That way, you can pick which micarta or wood scales you want AND you can pick what style sheath you want. No matter what sheath KaBar puts in that box SOMEONE will not like it.
