Art Nouveau Dagger

Wow, I really like that. You finished that one up very nicely. Great work.

Bravo..beautifull Patrice!!! Now maybe..an Art Nouveau stand that compliments its overall design?

That looks awesome Patrice the pommel looks amazing.

Although I will say the first thing that popped into my head looking at is was Hermes. The messenger of Zeus, you know, the guy with the winged feet. :p;)

I have to agree...this piece makes me think of Greek mythology as well.

Fit and finish look great, and the creativity quotient is off the charts on this one. Did you mention before that this was your first time engraving or carving steel? If so, that's amazing. Tres bien, mon ami!

A stand is a good idea. Probably won't have time if I want to make more knives.
On the fence about selling it, just selling altogether for that matter. (just saying it scares me).
And yes Paul, first engraving/carving and it shows. :o

Thanks again for the very nice compliments. You guys are good for my ego. ;)

Okay, Patrice... here's the plan... you sell it to me (your long lost twin) and that way it stays in the family! :D

In my head it does fly Ray. But now Nathan has me wondering if it could. Not that I am trowing it at anything after so much work. ;)

Thanks again guys.

PS: Damn you Greg, you are tempting me.

Patrice, after all the anticipation of this one, It is SOOOO worth it! Absolutely fantastic in every aspect...and that is likely an understatement. Many thumbs up.

Patrice, I smiled from ear to ear when I saw your post! It is even better than I imagined... Sell the sucker!

Saw this over on the engraving forums and have been waiting for you to finish er up. Wanted to see how it was going to turn out. You did an excellent job and the knife looks amazing.

... Sell the sucker!

Maybe I'll start an auction in chat tonight? ;)

Quint, in retrospect I feel bad about having posted my first engraving/carving try on the engraving forum. It looks like crap compared to the engravings on there. Should have waited to get better. :o

Thanks again for the good words guys.

I was asked for pics of other angles so here are a few. One with a darker background that I also like.

You are an artist. It looks amazing, and should have a sheath equally amazing. Sterling silver would work I think. ;-)

It looks good.

The only thing I can think of is to keep thinking in 3D

From that last pic, they look a bit flat from the bottom
you could have heated and beated a bit to get a more cupped or flared shape.

(not that I could have done any better)

Well that was worth waiting for! I keep picturing it with the wings rotated around and down so they actually form a guard instead of just flapping in the breeze. :D I can't remember Pat, did you do this as a take down?

I wouldnt feel bad about it at all. I have not done anything but practice plates on scrap steel but need to start posting some stuff so I can get input on what I am doing wrong or need to adjust to get a better cut. Pretty much any artistic hobby/job or whatever is like that. Gotta start somewhere and not get discoraged by comparing your work to the 20 30 40 year veterans. Just get as much advice and such from them and take there input with a open mind.
