Twenty minutes later the cops and a car load of suits rolled in and took him down town for six hours of grilling. Terroristic threatening.

I jest about Big Brother, mostly, but... every "threat" is taken seriously and those folks with the fancy expensive gear have serious budgets to justify, and people to whom they must answer. They're not gonna get that money next year if they don't "show" that they did something with it. That's not a conspiracy, it's just a fact. *shrug*

That's about as close to political nonsense as I care to get. Wish I could help ya with your computer, but I'm not a real geek, just a steel geek :o

And the guy that shot the cat prolly went free....

I wouldnt of said anything in the waiting room, but i wouldnt of let the man get away with shooting my cat either...

And im not a cat person, but I have had pet dogs in the past that i loved more than most humans, And if someone shot one of those dogs... They would of had to shoot me too or end up in a hospital themselves.

The last time i was in trouble i was made to take counseling and anger management. This was probably my 3rd time in my life taking anger management. But this time the counselor said something ill never forget and something i have done since he said it..... He said, "before you act out of anger, ask yourself if the situation deserves the actions, and if you end up in jail would it be worth it" In a case where someone shot my dog.. YES and YES.

..."before you act out of anger, ask yourself if the situation deserves the actions, and if you end up in jail would it be worth it" In a case where someone shot my dog.. YES and YES...

Well, keep your goshdarn dog away from my chickens/cats/kid, then! Jail will be the least of your worries! :D

I'm just teasin', bud. I don't see things in quite the same black-and-white as you do, but yeah, I'd be pretty hard to hold back if I saw someone harming my critters.

The territorial imperative is a powerful force, for certain. I remember when my daughter was barely a toddler, I had her out for a little fresh air in the stroller. As I brought her back up to the house, the moron living next door happened to have his (thoroughly undisciplined) mutt out in the yard, and it growled and snarled and drooled at her. Naturally, I got a little... tense.

"Relax bro, he just don't like things on wheels," says the idiot next door, with an egg-suckin' grin. WTF? he don't like things on wheels?

"Well, he ain't ever gonna like anything ever again if he comes a foot closer," says I.

You know that sound a mean, untrained dog makes when it's eyeing up easy pickin's? I was hearin' it, and had already decided what to tell the cops... the truth.

This nitwit had no clue what was happening; he was literally frozen like a deer in the headlights as his stupid cur inched towards us and I stepped between my kid and the mutt, and drew my knife. Happily for us, the neighbor finally woke up, panicked and scooped up the poor dumb beast and took it in his house, looking over his shoulder like I was the crazy one.

Now, that's not really the dog's fault, in my eyes... but screw him.

If my dog was attacking someones chickens, cats.. Or especially their kids.... on their land it would be a different story of course. Id expect someone to defend their family and critters the same way id defend mine. But if someone shot my dog, on my land for any reason at all they would be shot as well. And jail would be my ONLY worry.

I guess the guy that shot the cat could of had a valid reason, that part wasnt shared though. I can understand someone keeping stuff off of their land and protecting their critters as well, but unless that cat was attacking something in his yard he was just an asshole.

A few years ago a man was living in my mother in laws house renting it... Well they found out he was on drugs and ripping out the copper pipes to recycle them for money and they kicked him out, they went thru the court to legally evict him and he wouldnt leave... SO my mother in law sent me over there to kick him out. When i got there the man was leaving the house and just locked the door... He was also walking his big black pit bull at the time, I told him the 30 days was up and i needed the key, he then sicked his dog on me and the dog began biting into my leg, so i pulled out a pistol and shot the ground next to the dog... Because it wasnt the dogs fault it attacked me.... it was the owners...

The dog was scared of the noise and ran away... I then made the man lay down and i went into his pockets and got the keys to the house, and i called the cops myself. They showed up in less than 5 minutes and arrested me with force. knocking me down and everything and i was like WTF im the one that called yall LMAO, but After seeing my leg they took me to the hospital because my leg was bleeding a lot from the dog bites, they patched me up, dropped all charges for shooting the gun in the city and let me go home within 3 hours.

Anyway the detective asked me why i didnt shoot the dog, and i told him that id rather of shot the man. He was the one who made the dog attack me. But the police took the dog to be put down, and i hated that i even asked the detective if i could keep the dog, and i would teach it better, but they took it to be put to sleep because of the damage it did to my leg, they said it was too violent to be considered a pet and he said that normally dogs that attack people get put to sleep. I wanted the man put to sleep, not the dog.

I hear ya... I've known a couple guys who bragged about shooting stray/feral cats and dogs on sight, simply because they could get away with it. I'm not OK with that.

Yea thats not cool at all.

Changing the subject... James what do you think about plasma cutting? I have watched a few videos of people using a plasma cutter to cut knife blanks, and i know a guy with a plasma, But i also read that it case hardens the edge where the cut is made, so would it still be ok, or would it ruin the steel? Would it be as simple as adding about .05" to the design to sand away the hardened edge, or do you think it should just be avoided??

I decided to order a hunk of 52100, just because really... But once i design the knife that i want made out of it, i have the option to get it cut on the plasma, im just not sure if going that route would end up ruining the edge of the finished heat treated knife. But if not it could be a very reasonably priced method of getting my blanks cut for me. Cheaper than water jet, and no minimum order. But i dont want to go that route if its not wise.

I wouldnt suggest it. .05 isnt enough stock to save it from the damage its going to do especailly if this dude doesnt have on of the greatest plasma cutters on the market. Not to mention the fact that even if he is very skilled at it there not going to be very consistant as far as each on being the same. You would still have to profile them and that kinda defeats the purpose of having them cut out for you. Plasma use extreme heat to cut. Extreme heat is a knifes enemy as far as stock the removal method is concerned up to the heat treating process. Is your hang up with water jetting the minimum quanity/price of CAD? if so, why dont you buy your steel, trace your knife template out on it and pay somebody here on the forums that has a bandsaw a few bucks to cut them out?

I love animals as much as the next guy, but what I hate is irresponsible animal owners, I'd never harm a animal out of spite. But I will shoot one while hunting or if one is being a neucence. (sp) For example, I live in a neighborhood, but it is out of city limits. Some old b!tch that lives down the street had a little white dog that she walked around and stops and let it sh!t in everyones yard during her walks. If that wasnt bad enough, she let it run loose in the evenings and it would get into everybodies trash on trash days. I confronted her one time when she was letting it do its business in my yard and the only thing she did was give me a dirty look, ignore me and leave the steaming pile there for me to clean up. After two other times of the little bastard getting in my trash, I confronted my nieghboor (who is the police chief) and he says as long as I had confronted her about the problem and it hadnt been taken care of. I was totally within my rights to shoot the dog on my property as long as its being a neucence. So,next time I saw her walk by I told her about catching her dog in my trash and polietly asked her to take care of it. Again, she was rude and said, "this dog is old and can do anything it wants. She (the dog) was in this nieghborhood way before you where" Two weeks later it had knocked over another trash barrel and ripped up one of the bags while it was getting ready to leave for work..............It went out with the trash. Im not bragging about that, hated to do it, but it was a result of a ignorant owner.

In other news, I just got done polishing my Wayne.

I hesitate to ask what sort of euphemism this is.....

Clearly you need to read the "sexy sexy thread"

...

Okay, now I'm tracking...

OK, so I have a BH# now, about which I'm very pleased. But I have a question... does that mean I'm expected to conduct myself in a sane and reasonable manner from now on, or does it mean I get to stop holding back and say what I really think?

:D

Yes, you should do one of these, or neither... ;)

Thanks for the info Todd.

I have been reading about it all morning and I think your right, i dont think i will be going that method.

I have honestly never really checked on the prices or minimums of water jetting and CAD. I just figured not many people would want to deal with cutting 1 blank at a time.

I just decided, kind of spur of the moment, to order a piece of steel. Really i have nothing in mind yet for the steel, just wanted to get it and have it for once i decided on another knife i wanted made.

I just liked the idea of having a hand in it. I like the idea of getting the steel myself this time, drawing my design on it, having someone cut it out and profile it, then send it to me and let me send it to peters for heat treating, and then i could send it to have a final edge put on it once i get it back from heat treating.... This will likely get a little more expensive then buying an already made knife from a maker, but i want to go through the steps myself this one time.... just to do it and learn what actually goes down.

Just a learning experience where i end up with a knife in the end :)

I would of shot them both.........piss on em.

I get it, nothing wrong with that....You forgot however to mention the grind after the profiling though. ;) probably the most important part of the knifemaking process other than the heat treat.

LMAO, i would of had no problems shooting that guy, he was scum. But the dog just had a bad teacher.

The reason the detective asked me why i didnt shoot the dog is because they originally charged me with reckless endangerment because when i shot the ground the bullet could of ricocheted and hit someone and had i shot the dog he said there would of been less chance of a ricochet. They dropped the charge though. But they never returned the gun to me and it was mine. Legally mine registered to me and i was legally carrying it. They said after the full investigation i could get it back by writing a letter to someone, cant remember who now, but i never bothered. Wouldnt matter anymore anyways because i lost my right to own a firearm a year later. Probably a good thing too. People like me with bad tempers shouldnt own a gun.

You forgot however to mention the grind after the profiling though. ;) probably the most important part of the knifemaking process other than the heat treat.

See thats why i need this learning experience LMAO

Really i just love knives. So little by little im trying to learn everything i can about them.

I'm going to stop fiddling with my computer regarding the images issue. I'm on the wife's laptop this morning and .....no pictures on Bladeforums. Weirdness indeed.

What the hell, that's crazy. I do have a lot of issues here. Many times, I can't even get BF to load. Not sure why. Tried everything I could think of. I can get everywhere to load, except here. Obviously, not always, as I'm here, but many times.

Yea i have issues here sometimes too. Mostly posting or PM'ing.... Anything over 1 sentence seems to freeze it up a couple times a week at least.

I'm talking for hours at a time sometimes. Not sure what the dealio is. I use Mozilla, but, like I said, I only have that problem here, so probably doesn't have anything to do with Mozilla. Tried turning my proxy off, disabling the firewall, etc, with the same result. I thought perhaps it was the high level of traffic here, but BCUSA has high volumes as well, and I don't have that problem there. Just really not too sure...

Yea same here, when it does happen it goes for hours. I normally give up on posting that post or sending that PM until the next day. I doubt it has anything to do with Mozilla because im on chrome and had the same issues on IE. But im far from a computer expert so who knows.
