He supposedly sold that land and only paid the person that had started to take legal action against him. If he didn't use the rest of the money from the land sale to pay others, it doesn't seem likely that he will use these proceeds to do so either. Hope I'm wrong.

In other words, he's going to make you spend the money he owes you on a lawyer? It would pay then to take him to court anyway, to recover the legal fees as well as the original money owed.

Anyone besides me get the feeling he is scamming other people to pay off the people he has owed the longest/really pissed off? Whether it's via the internet or some alternate route.
