Ashton Kutcher with an Emerson!

Too bad the guys that he's talking to are half retarded. "I want to be stranded on an island with a Mossberg 500 and a bayonet."?!?! Yeah buddy, I always keep a bayonet affixed to my shotgun. I wish someone would have told that dumbass to keep his mouth shut.

I like the fact that Ashton says he carries a knife with him everywhere he goes. It looks like a plain edge as well. Good job Kelso! Someone get in touch with that man and get him off that stupid Twitter garbage and tell him to hit up BF.

lol good un....:D

I remember when this was posted a year or so ago on another forum. He was in Atlanta at blade doing work for Alzheimer disease or something. He popped in at Blade and ended up talking to Mr. Emerson and walked away with a Emerson knife.

I dont have a problem with him, but I do like it when celibraties get involved in knives as it can be a good thing. If we can get them involved into something like knife rights even better.

And by the way. He still gets to go home to Demi. Now that is something to be jealous about! :D :D

Look, Ashton has a knife. And a gun. And he sleeps with Demi Moore. He's suddenly cool again. Yay.

Better be looking for the cameras kiddies...cuz I think you're getting punk'd. Boy, what a funny show that was in 1987.

The 'Nuge was country when country wuttin' cool, babe.

Agree with you there, marthinus... I was just thinking that this was really old news where I usually hang out... but... there are many more Emerson folks there, too.

FWIW, He uses the 14 a couple of times in the Valentine's Day movie as well if you paid attention when you took your gal to see it... The fun part was knowing that he did in advance and waiting to see it get used in the movie.

If we judged funny or nutty celebs on their money making "job" persona, that would be too easy... or just simple minded...

I have really split opinion on Emerson, and they are almost a complete contradiction of each other. On one hand I hate the marketing and what these knives stand for. On the other hand, thats the only knife I EDC, and I can't find a folder I'd be more comfortable with by my side. I understand that Mr. Emerson got a lot of things right, but for some reason I think these knives should be carried and not shown/explained to general public (I don't know why I think that, I just do). Some places ban you from having something like screw driver on your passenger seat in your car, if they try to get their minds around it, a folder could be next. So I'm generally against hostile confrontation if it leads to further problems.

I like when people don't think of my knife as a weapon (even if I ever carried one again as a weapon), and if somebody who isn't into knives asks me "oh, is that a benchmade?" I'd tell him "Yeah, something like that." And waving it around in front of many people, or bragging about your knives not only to people who couldn't care less, but also in front of those who will get hostile about it is something I frown on.

So him carrying a knife, well that doesn't mean jack to me, I think its normal. I don't think anybody deserves a pat on the back for it. It's like congratulating someone for wearing a wristwatch, or a cellphone. Him carrying a good knife, and not some cheap $20 Chinese knockoff, well its once again, just makes sense, especially if spending $100+ to you is like spending pocket change. Him calling attention to something I have, annoys me (but thats only me).

So after watching that, well I can see he is having fun on that show, but he annoys me even more then he usually does, still when something is annoying it doesn't mean its bad, just something that will frustrate you individualy if exposed to for a prolonged periods of time.

Who cares what other people think about knives? Why would you try to hide your hobby?

Jay

Honestly, I wouldn't give him any respect for owning glocks and emersons, but i also wouldn't take anything away from him. I mean, honestly, anyone with a basic interest in guns and knives knows those two brands. Celebs like him probably have a lot of talks about personal security, and maybe have concerns about their well being. It probably wouldn't take too long for him to figure out what an emerson is after talking shop with his private security. And like any other dude, before he was famous he was probably like any other guy from Idaho or wherever, who likes shooting guns, etc. If you ask me, he could afford to get something nicer if he actually cared. He probably just grabbed whatever he was told when he walked in to blade.

I don't care what they think about knives, as long as they aren't trying to make sure I can't keep mine.

Why to hide my hobby,

1, I don't, but I don't think I need to go brag about it. And besides you guys here, I haven't met people around me who'd be interested enough in knives in a healthy way to talk with them about knives.
2, It is a lot easier to lobby against knives then for knives, especially in places like California, which BTW doesn't have the strictest knife laws by far yet, and I carry my CQC-10 legally.
3, If I ever needed to use knife as a weapon I would rather my opponent didn't know I had one, or even know how to use one. So I would conceal my EDC (as I already do)

Its not called caring what others are thinking, its called being aware of your surroundings.

Hes far from being a idiot image he puts on. I believe he went to college for biochemical engineering, though he did drop out.

Twitter has $150M as of 2009 and valleywag.com — Digg's user base is two-thirds the size of Facebook's, which just garnered an investment from Microsoft valuing the company at $15 billion. So every one in this thread that is calling these "geeks" losers, what is your income compared to them. As far as "having survival skills to be a man...." I some how think that they can afford not to have to rub to sticks together to have fire.

In our modern society where keeping track of the animals you hunted or keeping the scalps of the enemies you conquered is no longer acceptable, material wealth is one measure of the fitness(as in survival of the fittest) of an individual to propagate(witness the undeniable attraction of the opposite sex). How much money may not be a measure of a person's worth, but it is one way to keep track of how successful he can navigate through our modern society.

I can get on board with this line of thinking now, not so much when I was younger.
Good rule of thumb, keep it in your pants when you are around suspected sheeple. Hmmm, that sounds kinda wrong, now that I reread it.

Those are the Digg founders - one of the largest [nerd] news aggregate sites on the net. Pretty cool about Ashton Kutcher carrying an Emerson, but how about this to blow your mind:

Yeah, carrying an E2D and P Diddy with a custom gold Novatac.

edit: noticed the bezel is flush, E2D Exec Incan not LED

Is that Demi in the background in the white dress. Lookin all hot.

yeah i think its kind of a moot point, noticing that hes carrying an emerson and not a $20 chinese thing.
the guy probably sleeps on a bed of money, an emerson is pocket change.

It's cool that he carries a decent knife. As someone else said, he should go custom with all the money he has. I wonder if he's a knifenut or just carries the one Emerson he was given. Either way good for him for carrying a good knife.

he may be just learning about knives, or he may just like the emerson line.

either way, any time a high profile personality with the ability to reach millions of people likes knives/guns, it is a good thing for our hobby.

this does not include nfl/nba/mlb/rappers or other idiots who get arrested carrying a gun illegally.

Simply put, some of us prefer to keep a low profile, as mentioned earlier in the thread. We enjoy carrying/owning knives, but when it comes to presentation, we're particular about our audience and how we express ourselves on the subject.

On a side note:

In this youtube vid, Angelina Jolie flips a balisong (can't identify it) at the 0:57 mark
