Simply put, some of us prefer to keep a low profile, as mentioned earlier in the thread. We enjoy carrying/owning knives, but when it comes to presentation, we're particular about our audience and how we express ourselves on the subject.

On a side note:

In this youtube vid, Angelina Jolie flips a balisong (can't identify it) at the 0:57 mark

That's awesome. I sent it to my girlfriend. I was like see I'm not a lunatic, Angelina likes them too.

Twitter has $150M as of 2009 and valleywag.com — Digg's user base is two-thirds the size of Facebook's, which just garnered an investment from Microsoft valuing the company at $15 billion. So every one in this thread that is calling these "geeks" losers, what is your income compared to them. As far as "having survival skills to be a man...." I some how think that they can afford not to have to rub to sticks together to have fire.

What does this have to do with them trying to discuss subjects that they know nothing about? A mentally deficient person can have all the money in the world, but it doesn't make them smart. It just makes them rich. As far as having enough money that you'll never have to rub two sticks together to make fire... Shit happens. People get stuck out in the wilderness, planes crash, boats capsize, disasters strike. When things like this happen the only thing you can do with your money is burn it and hope you have enough to keep you warm. And without knowing how to make a fire that money isn't going to help you at all. Tragedy can happen at any time and to anyone. Being prepared is a smart thing. Thinking that your money is going to save you, no matter what, is not smart.

I don't care what they think about knives, as long as they aren't trying to make sure I can't keep mine.

Why to hide my hobby,

1, I don't, but I don't think I need to go brag about it. And besides you guys here, I haven't met people around me who'd be interested enough in knives in a healthy way to talk with them about knives.
2, It is a lot easier to lobby against knives then for knives, especially in places like California, which BTW doesn't have the strictest knife laws by far yet, and I carry my CQC-10 legally.
3, If I ever needed to use knife as a weapon I would rather my opponent didn't know I had one, or even know how to use one. So I would conceal my EDC (as I already do)

Its not called caring what others are thinking, its called being aware of your surroundings.

If that's your main mode of self-defense, I understand that. My knife is a tool, my pistol is my weapon. If your state doesn't allow that then I can understand your concerns a little better.

It's late, and i'm overworked, so my post got really lengthy and off topic.
I'll try to be short and to the point.

I carry my CQC-10 because it feels more comfortable to me when I carry it. Maybe it has something to do with my training maybe not, all I know it sits right in my hand and in my pocket.

Not touching the gun argument, will only say that me not having one doesn't make anti gun or doesn't mean I don't know how to use it.

Kinda neat that Kutcher carries an Emerson.

I literally started laughing out loud when Kevin Rose blurted out "BENCHMADE!" like a jerk ass. He shoulda slowed down on the beers or just kept his mouth shut when a man talks.

Is that Demi in the background in the white dress. Lookin all hot.

I do not know, but I do not think so. This photo is originally from Demi Moores' twitter account at P. Diddy's July Fourth White Party celebration, I believe she took the photo with her iPhone, and that fine girl in the background looks Latina.

btw, the elitism here makes me sick.

It's just funny to see everyone jumping on this person for beliefs they have of him that aren't true, and yet we all get butt hurt when people jump on us for beliefs they have of us that aren't true. Hilarious!

And yeah, if I don't like it I know I can leave, thanks for telling me.

Why does everyone need to know how to survive in the wild? they are nerds and they have money, why do they need survival skills?
They are laughing like little girls and talking tough about shotgun's and bajonets.
Maybe they played a bit to much Counterstrike.

Enough, If you are interested in talking about knives. This is the place. If you are interested in talking about movie stars. Pick up a copies of People, US, the National Enquirer and find a celebrity gossip forum to your liking.
