If we had more information about the plan to sort things out I'm sure people would be more patient, but it has been a week since the problem started without any sort of REAL update about any potential solution.

If the site wants to retain the history here this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, being told to "hold fast" instead of deleting is getting old with no update beyond being told we're probably going to have to pay MORE money if we want to keep contributing to this sites popularity.

There was a real update and I don’t see why spark has to keep repeating himself. He’s reached out for several quotes on new hosting services with more storage, and he’s waiting to hear back or to make a decision.

Holy Crap! I won't be alive long enough to delete that many images...I'm 72 now!
I'll wait to see if things get sorted out.
If not, I'll just start threads and type what I want to sell and have people email me if they're interested.

Thank you wickettedge and RayseM. Stay safe.

P.S. Does the problem go away if I upgrade to Platinum membership level?
Hate to break it to you man, but you're one of the worst offenders based on what Spark posted over the weekend:

All you need to use Postimages is a email .
Technically, no, you don't even need that. You can upload there 100% anonymously. I did that just yesterday.

However, don't be surprised when your images disappear or are replaced for you by an ad or pron (seen this SO many times on a fishing forum I'm on that uses a Postimages plugin).

birdave birdave - Yeah that's hours and hours and hours of deleting as you can't delete in bulk. You need to view ONE THREAD at a time and edit out those images - return back to the attachments and do the next. 🫨 I don't know the allowed images for PLATINUM but that you get an additional 10mb compared to GOLD - don't know what that translates to image numbers. It will not clear up YOUR problem. :(

EDIT - Thanks Chip - 1000 for PLATINUM - still a long way to go for you & me.
Ray, you get 10MB more gallery space going gold to platinum. The attachment storage allotment goes from 200MB to 400MB, or 500 images to 1,000.

Some people may not want to grant full rights to their pics to a 3rd party host, that's WAY different than granting them to Spark for use here...and again, the Photobucket disaster.

Even if we had a Photobucket disaster again with another host, we would only lose a few weeks worth of pictures until Spark moves to a new web host: as opposed to years worth of pictures, which is what is happening right now when people are deleting all their pictures to make room for more. This is the bigger disaster

At this point, I'll wait it out to see what transpires.
If I need to sell something, I'll use just text in my threads and ask interested members to contact me by email, so I can send picts. of what they may be interested in.

This entire situation was avoidable with some planning and a heads up to the users before flipping the switch🤷🏻‍♂️

The entire situation was avoidable by y'all not flipping out and deciding to mass delete instead of being patient while I literally said sit tight and I'm investigating solutions.

Some of you want to be recalcitrant and delete everything instead of being patient. That's on you. I have not told anyone to delete anything at this time and have, in fact, encouraged you guys not to delete a thing.

The vast majority of people haven't gone over their quota. Those of you who have, sorry that this has inconvenienced you. Having the server eat up all of its storage every few months and having issues like search going down as a result is even more of a problem.

You have a few choices:
1. Sit tight as I work towards a solution. That will not happen instantly
2. Panic and delete everything until you can post pictures of whatever you feel like again
3. Use an offsite hosting service in the interim.

Until then it'd behoove some of you to chill out.

If it helps anyone, I've been using https://postimages.org/

Select your image and that's it. You can resize as it uploads if you want (select the resize option before choosing your image). If you're just trying to stick a photo up in a post quick, it might be the easiest solution. No account necessary.

I'm nowhere near these guys, but I'm at

2092 / 1000 (209%) number of pics.

Hey wajgy wajgy look on the bottom right of your ATTACHMENTS page. These number will need to comply before you can post new images. Deleting 20 or 30 might not even be close to getting you there. The far right number of each is the target number you need to be below before being able to add more.

As has been said above Spark - last week - was telling us to not delete until he sorts things out - but in the meanwhile you will need to use an outside host if you must attach more photos. We are loosing lots of history with these mass deletes.
Oh ok, thank you very much!

I think this is part of the disconnect that some folks are feeling.

I don’t see these people as the “worst offenders”. They haven’t taken anything away from me or this site.

Instead I see them as some of the most prolific CONTRIBUTORS to this site.

So for what it’s worth:

David Mary David Mary
Dcdavis Dcdavis
DocJekl DocJekl
WValtakis WValtakis
birdave birdave

Thanks for all the pics!!!

Thank you! 🙏🏻 😁 At least my reaction score ranking matches my offender ranking🤣

I used "worst offenders" as a figure of speech, absolutely no condemnation was intended. ;) 👍 I'm right there in the boat with you guys! ETA- and to be clear, I apologize if it came across negatively.

Regarding the Photobucket disaster, I had over a thousand pictures hosted there when it was free. When the "disaster" struck, I remained calm and waited patiently. Before the "we're going to delete everything" deadline, I was presented with what I thought was a reasonable compromise. I've been paying $120 a year ($10 a month) for unlimited storage amd bandwidth. I lost not a single image.

I realize that added to a Platinum membership here, that comes to a whopping $15 per month, and I could eat another McDonald's meal a month with that money, but somehow I still haven't starved.

Thanks for keeping us apprised of the situation!!🤝
I know I am missing not being able to post pictures!! 😞
I will do my best to be patient!! 🫣😂😂🫣

I give Imgur limited access only. I select which photos Imgur has access to and those are the photos I upload and share here

Just top be clear - No issues deleting from my closed threads even with a gold membership - the issue is with GAW and Pass It Along type threads in which photos or attachments were posted that are now closed by others.

Thanks.
Its also an issue in the Buck forum. There is a Sunday photo thread that gets locked each week.

eveled eveled Sorry, It's an unintended consequence. There was a historical reason for my doing that.
