Attachment issues

If we had more information about the plan to sort things out I'm sure people would be more patient, but it has been a week since the problem started without any sort of REAL update about any potential solution.

If the site wants to retain the history here this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, being told to "hold fast" instead of deleting is getting old with no update beyond being told we're probably going to have to pay MORE money if we want to keep contributing to this sites popularity.

Even if you use it on a desktop?
I set up an account back when photobucket croaked and haven't had any problems with it, but I use my phone like an old person: to make phone calls.

I think WValtakis WValtakis summarizes my thinking on it.

I read the initial post, but later in the thread, I saw Spark Spark giving advice on how to delete from locked threads. So, I just sorta figured, delete them all and move on.

I, for one, would be happy to pay extra to help the site, but storage is very, very, cheap these days, so I am not sure if it is really a funding problem or a programming issue.

Hopefully, we can come up with a plan going forward. I wish I could have pointed my delete script at just posts in the exchange and not all my posts throughout the rest of the site. That'd be a cool feature if we still need to maintain caps and limits.

As has been said above Spark - last week - was telling us to not delete until he sorts things out - but in the meanwhile you will need to use an outside host if you must attach more photos. We are loosing lots of history with these mass deletes.

If I understand you correctly, at the bottom right of my attachments page there is 5962 / 500. I would need to delete 501, in order to be able to post another pict.? I'm not going to delete any more (I only deleted two), until I hear the problem has been resolved. Just wanted to check that I'm understanding what you meant in your reply to wajgy.

Sadly - you will need to delete 5,463 images in order to add 1 new image. o_O The target is the 500 but that is your limit so you would need to get below that.

Holy Crap! I won't be alive long enough to delete that many images...I'm 72 now!
I'll wait to see if things get sorted out.
If not, I'll just start threads and type what I want to sell and have people email me if they're interested.

P.S. Does the problem go away if I upgrade to Platinum membership level?
 
birdave birdave - Yeah that's hours and hours and hours of deleting as you can't delete in bulk. You need to view ONE THREAD at a time and edit out those images - return back to the attachments and do the next. 🫨 I don't know the allowed images for PLATINUM but that you get an additional 10mb compared to GOLD - don't know what that translates to image numbers. It will not clear up YOUR problem. :(

EDIT - Thanks Chip - 1000 for PLATINUM - still a long way to go for you & me.
 
birdave birdave I ran a Selenium script to delete them all.

But it sounds like that was an overreaction on my part and that a real solution is coming.

You have an existing account, correct? Even if you use it without an account, my statement is entirely correct, you need a phone # to create a new account.

Some people may not want to grant full rights to their pics to a 3rd party host, that's WAY different than granting them to Spark for use here...and again, the Photobucket disaster.
