So you have been hangin' around and have yet to make your first post. Well here is your invitation to say hello. Go ahead and tell us about your most recent knife purchase or maybe the next one. Don't forget to mention knives or the all powerful, big word using, moderating, Paracelsus will send us to community. Welcome to Bladeforums, bteel.

Hey bteel. I'm not exactly a lurker (see post count) but I certainly support your initiative to invite those who have dedicated themselves to learn and not yet contribute.

Hey lurkers, I once was one of you...I read as much as possible to learn about this obsession we all have with knife-collecting and such, but then a few months later I came out of hiding and have not regretted it since. People around here are the coolest bunch of human beings. Know that you are all welcome and supported!

This thread is going Nowhere! Brian is actually raising a very important issue. I lurked for more than six months before I made my first post. Lurking is a good thing, because you learn alot, get to know some of the people and personalities here at BFC, and it helps prevent looking like an idiot when you do finally make that first post.

But, I have to say that the rewards of posting are tremendous. It lets you feel like you are involved with this wonderful community of sharp people. It lets you learn more, share your passion with others, maybe share what knowledge you have about any number of subjects with Lots of people, and is just plain FUN! I have so many good friends that I have met through this seemingly impersonal medium. Some I have now met in person, others I will meet in the future. Some I may never meet in physical form, but I regard these folks as friends as well.

Please, accept Brian's thoughtful invitation to join up, select a forum handle (your own name is fine), and start to participate. Doing it is a lot more fun than watching. Trust me

Paracelsus

Oh, I almost forgot. Posting at least once is the Only way you can qualify for one of the free knives given away to forum members here each month. And it's cheaper than a lottery ticket

I was here at least a month before registering. Lots of good advice since then. SAK, BTTT and some other abbreviations threw me for awhile, but finally understood through context

This forum has something that many others lack -Content I mean real, usable information. Thanks to everyone who contributes.

What does, BTTT mean anyhow? SAK=Swiss army knife!

This is not my first post but it is close. I guess that i have been lurking about three months.
My most recent purchases are a BM 940 and a Spyderco Calypso Jr Lightweight. The next ones will likely be a Mini-Bushman and possibly a new Arc Lite.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've spent more money on knives since
I found this site, than in my entire
life. I spent allot of money on guns but
knives are much more affordable.
It's funny how I'm not allowed to carry
guns and never thought of knives as a
defense type tool. I've had many knives
most of which have been gifts. Now, for
some reason, I'm hooked.
My first purchase was the Kershaw Boa.
I love the blade but the lock up is
totally inadequate. Also the torsion bar
is broke, I received a email from
Kershaw today saying they will send me
a new bar so that's not an issue at this
point.
My latest knife which I received yesterday
is the BM March Knife of the Month AFCK.
This knife is excellent. I had planned on
buying a second AFCK with M2 plain edge
then switching blades but for now I'm
very happy and hopefully can save some
money for a rainy day.

Yo, I recently found out about this site and started posting. Forums are one of the best ways to learn about whatever subject you want because I used to and still do post on videogame forums and started posting here (go easy on me, I'm still in high school)
biggrin.gif
. So I recommend, that you lurkers out there start posting!

Been lurking about three months, posting for about a week or less. Since lurking I've bought sooo many knives, too many to list, but here goes:
BM 710S
BM 940, 940BT
BM 720 [sold it]
BM Nimravus, Nimravus Cub M2
CRKT KFF, small KFF[gave them both to co-workers]
CRKT Point Guard [gave to co-worker], 2 small Point Guards
2 John Greco 5" Companions
3 Spyderco Kitchen Sharps[Santoku, 6", 4"]
2 Spyderco Natives.
Then I did it, bought my first Emerson, and now the total is:
2 Satin CQC7B's
2 Bead Blasted CQC7B's
2 Commanders; 1 Satin, 1 Black BT
1 Satin Waved CQC7's
and the piece de resistance:
2 Green-T SOCFK's!

No more knives for a while! (Yeah, right).
So now I'm a certified Wave-aholic thanks to Bladeforums!

Wave-aholic? Is that a reference to the Leatherman Wave or the Wave opeming system on the Commander?

I am a semi-lurker, not many posts, but have gained a wealth of knowledge just reading.
I recently purchased a Leatherman crunch (the vice-grip type leatherman) and 2 Opinels, 1 #6 and 1 #8. These seem to be really good knives for the price (about $8.00 each)
Thanks for all the info everbody posts.

John

Welcome lurkers! I used to lurk, but found that everyone here was so helpful anytime I posted a question. My most recent purchases are a Microtech LCC and Microtech Kestrel. Both are sweet! My next knife will be a Dozier - a Bodyguard or Arkansas Toothpick - I can't decide! Man, this is a cool place!

Well, been lurking for a few months now. Since finding this site, I have gained alot of knowledge and also picked up quite an addiction (and some debt to. hehe). Since coming here I have picked up the following knives:

Spyderco Dragonfly
BM 705
BM 940
Case Peanut
Case Pocket Hunter
Small Sebenza
WH Kestral (on order)

and maybe one or two more that I can't remember.

Right then. I've been challenged, so I must respond. I've been lurking here for over a year, and have learned much about all aspects of cutlery.

My first serious knife was a CS Trailmaster, purchased about 10 years ago. A recent acquisition was a kydex sheath for it.

Within the past two years? Gerber Paul; Klotzi CF, Dragonfly CF, various Spydercos, most recently a Wegner; Benchmades AFCK, CQC-7, Leopard.

Customs: Rick Frigault fighter (see www.ckg.org - Canadian Knifemaker's guild); James McGowan drop-point skinner - absolutely beautiful for a sensational price.

I carry daily. Usually CQC-7 or Wegner. My girlfriend carries a Calypso Jr.

I've converted two people at work, and now they both carry solid folders.

I'm a reasonably regular poster to rec.knives.

Love this place!

Later,

Jason
