attention lurkers

Hi all,

Well, this post started before I even knew about this forum. I think I found it in January and have since posted several questions to which I have received numerous helpful replies. For those of you that responded to my 154CM vs M2 post, the BM710HS is in the mail (along with a BM750)! Can't wait!

Thanks to everyone,

Ok, You got me to make my first post. I have been lurking for about a year. I find I learn a lot more by litening than talking. I have a Darrel Ralph Apogee on order which should be done soon.

I lurked for about 4 months before registering - this is my second post.

In the beginning, I was looking for info on the new Gerber Legend, which I ended up buying (great multitool - I should write something up on it, since I ended up buying about 20 for my staff...).

Then, I sort of got hooked! The price: A Spyderco Calypso Jr. Stainless. I'm starting to wonder if this whole thing was such a good idea after all!

Just to be safe, I make sure I don't read any topic that has "Sebenza" or "Chris Reeve" in it!

Been meaning to register for some time. I was introduced to this forum by a friend where I work. Recent purchases are a BM 720 and a Rekat Pioneer II.

The Pioneer is now my work knife. I think this thing is near indestructable. Waiting on a sheath from River City Sheaths as I hated the feel of the knife with the pocket clip attached.

Anxiously awaiting the blade show in Atlanta.

I found it purely by coincidence, it's a long story but...

I'm a systems administrator and have been using the web since the eary 90's. In recent years I always used one search engine called Infoseek which then became Go. In the past 6 months they have been completely redesigned and IMO the quality of their search engine has gone out the window as of their most recent change. So as a result I bought a program called Copernic Pro which is specifically a program for searching the internet via hundreds of available search engines at once. (It's actually an awesome program that's available in a chopped down version for free from copernic.com)

Evidently BF was never listed with Infoseek as a web page so all my searches for knives never kicked anything up. When I started researching my most recent purchase using the new software I kept seeing links to BF. "What the H**l is this, I've never seen this and I'm a knife freak".

Since then I've been hooked.

Sorry for the ramble but some of that info may help others.

Thanks to this forum I have learned a tremendous amount about blades and there many uses. I have bought in the last two months:

Busse Steel Heart E
Fallkniven A-1
CRK Sebenza

Now my wife says I got to stop buying all these damn knives and start paying the bills!

Hi guys !

I've been a lurker for about six months and eagerly absorbed tons of info on knives (and gadgets).
The facts that English is not my native tongue and that my knifeknowledge is lacking have kept me from registering sooner.

I think I've been a knife-fanatic since the day I was born, but I've been repressing my knife-passion for too many years.
Bladeforums got me back to knife-loving/adoring/drooling/collecting.
I bought a small classic Sebenza after learning of it's existence from you guys (my bank manager told me to thank you all

)

Read my story on how I found this place over here, it's kinda special.

I'll probably continue to lurk untill I feel I have something to contribute.
Thanks for the hospitality and keep feeding me knowledge please !

Well, I guess everyone's gotta have a first time...sooo, here I come, please be gentle. I hope this doesn't hurt, Nerves, butterfly's in my stomach.

Anyway, I've been lurking around for a few months. My most recent purchase's were all Spyderco.

I went to Va. Beach for a few days and one of the beach-front stores had a 50% off sale on all knives (mostly junk), but in a revolving display were the Spydies. I couldn't refrain. I picked up a Mini Dyad in micarta for ~$30, A Calypso Jr for ~$32, a Delica for ~$32, and of course had to have the SpyderCard for $20. My wife wouldn't let me spend the $100 for the Civilian, and still get all the other wonderful toys, ahh, the sacrifices we make!

So far, only the Calypso has bitten me.

Well, that wasn't soo bad, infact, I kinda enjoyed it.

Hello all
I looked at this forum, since late 2000. I retired from my former company and started a small excavation business. Due to Mother Nature I cannot dig in the winter, thus I had time to spend lookin at this forum and all the knife sites. Having had a knife in my pocket or on my side since I was a kid, it just seemed right to sign up and participate. So, when I saw the membership going to 10,000, I signed up. I sure learn alot here, and I thought I knew something about knives. Just goes to show you never to old to learn. It also made me spend my gun money on knives. I got a George folder from Chefget, a nice Terzuola TTF3 from Les Robertson, a wharncliff folder from Frank Dilluvio, and this week ordered a small Ralph Apogee from Kevin at THEEDGE, in addition to a Steve Hill folder and assorted productions from my friend Joe at JT KNIVES, my nearest knife shop. I guess it's still for the most part cheaper than buying old guns, and without all the paperwork. One of the highlights of my time here is I got to talk to Mr. Darrel Ralph on the phone the other day. Folks here are right, Darrel is a Gentleman as well as a Great knife maker. Now I have to thin my herd and save up to have Darrel make me a BIG

I would like to thank Phil, Themartialway,Gollnik,Ken Cook,lifter4him,r henny,Keith Montgomery, and Mike Turber for their welcome to me in early March. My Regards to my fellow knife nuts out there Keep em sharp. JIM

Hello. My name is Mark, and I'm a lurker.

I registered a few weeks ago and am just starting the collecting madness that possesses us all. My recent additions have been a small CRKT KFF, small CRKT Point Guard, and a Camillus marine combat knife. I love the CRKT knives for their modest price and decent quality -- seem like nice starter knives.

I don't know what the next knife will be (maybe a Sebenza?), but with the knife show coming up this summer in Tacoma, I'm saving my pennies (I better save lots o' pennies for a Sebenza, huh?).

Mark J, welcome to the forums. I just got a small decorated sebenza the other day. They are worth saving for. Good luck,

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.

Folks, This forum has grown by leaps & bounds recently (over 10,000 members!) & there have been folks posting lately with one or two or seven or twenty postings & they have asked good questions & been enthusiastic. Bless 'em. The learning curve has flattened somewhat. Used to be, a new poster would come in & ask about the knives on QVC & get blown out of the water. Now the new members come in with an educated opinion & in my view, that's pretty refreshing. There was a time when all of us held our first knife & were amazed with the way we felt about it & discovered a passion. It took time for us all to learn the difference between a Loveless subhilt and a Case sowbelly folder. Many of us started our knife "thing" by buying crap. We learned the difference. Some faster than others, but we learned. I've been here for a while & I've spent more time reading & learning than I have posting. "Lurkers" often read & learn & wait until they have either a good question to ask or something to share. It's all part of the process & the more of us who are interested, the better. Jump right in folks. I think I speak for many of us & we're happy to have everybody here.

Today is my first day as a member. My last knife is a Kershaw Ken Onion Boa that is the neatest knife I have ever owned. I would love to own a dozen of them, I would hand them out of all of my friends that ask about it. also what does everyone think of the MicroTech LCC

Thank you Rugger, very well put.

I tell people about Bladeforums all the time. New members should feel they have the right to ask a question even if the subject has already been discussed and is resting in the archives.

Although I have posted a few times before, I certainly appreciate the invitation to speak out.

Hmm...I haven't made any new knife purchases lately(being unemployed sucks), but I'm really looking forward to getting the Camillus EDC. Hopefully, there will be a 4 incher by the time I get to it.

I haven't really said hello, I don't think, so--hello you guys. A great board on a great subject. Thank you all for sharing. My last knife was a Spyderco Moran. So far, my interest is in knifes I have a practical use for, rather than really collecting. My next may be the 16 inch Ang Khola khukuri http://www.cystern.com/khukuri/largeviewak16inch.htm if that gets back in stock anytime soon.

Hello,
I guess I'm a "Lurker", been "Lurking" for a year or so. I have visited often but have never posted. I'm not much on chat; now listening\reading and maybe learning a thing or two, thats more my speed. I have been a Knifenut for as long as I can remember. I've collected about 50 or so knives so far. My most recent purchase was a crkt Ryan7.

I would like to extend a special hello to those of you who are from outside of the US, because I find your points-of-view very interesting to read, SO POST!!!!, please. And don't worry about how good your English is, heck, your grammer is probably better than most Americans anyway.
