August 27th

Just got done laying out my sale / trade goodies. Couple of Case knives, new in the box, couple of rare Bucks, and a sweet old Collins USA made hatchet. A bunch of other knives and stuff, some new, some old.

It looks like I'm going to be playing in a hurricane while you guys have fun.
Enjoy yourselves.

Great Day!!! Good food, good friends, can`t get any better than that! I`ll post the few pics I took tomorrow.

Hi guys -

Kirill and I made it home safe. We had a great time at the Gathering, and Kirill is now going to design his own JK!!

John had a nice assortment of knives laid out for sale, along with some very cool books - I picked up three books and two knives.

Sean (Outdoorsfan) had a good time, as always!

John has been decorating his shop - it really is a great place to gather, commiserate and have a brew or two.

I picked up this awesome Buck 055 (half of a 110 lol )

I made the stuffed, bacon wrapped jalepeno, making a mess of John's grill, but man are these things good!

Tom's awesome bread and butter pickles - even if he didn't bring all that great beer, these are worth the trip for me!

Brats from Uncle Bill and Outdoorsfan (they also made bacon wrapped chicken tenders YUM!) and Joliet Jeff's awesome potato salad. We also enjoyed some excellent cookies from the Boss, who was in Southern Illinois - thanks Connie! Kirill provided a couple of tasty dips and some crackers, and we had chips and John grilled up some hamburgers. Whew! Lots of great food, plus these folks drink GREAT beers!

Here is a link to all of my pictures of the event - thanks for a great time!

I had a great time with you guys and thank all of you for the warm welcome! Everyone was really nice and really willing to educate a knife newb. Those pictures turned out great Andy! You really have a knack for that. Thanks for the hospitality John. I'll be sending you an email about my first JK Knife!

Looks like I missed another fun day. The weather even cooperated it appears.
In Andy's first picture, what is the Buck knife just above the hatchets?

Weather was perfect! That knife is one of the old Empress Trio Kitchen Set. I have that one and the smallest one, both with burgundy micarta handles. Nobody picked those up.

Another great time at the Gathering! Always a ton of fun and they remind me how cool it is to share a passion for knives with some awsome guys. Thanks to our gracious host, John, and everyone who was able to make it. Next time, I think we need more bacon! ;)

It looks like a great blade. I've never had Bucks so I've rarely paid attention to them. I may have to open my eyes a little more.

Did you guys come up with an October Saturday? I want to make our cabin reservation ASAP.

Jeff

The only thing we came up with is not the first 2 weeks. I think you should post a thread on what weekend works, along with cost of the cabin. I`m personaly ok with any time, but I would need a ride with someone.

Hi Jeff -

We said third weekend of Oct.

I will pick up John and whoever else would want to meet there at Mokena.

We could caravan up to the campsite (or cabin). I think I heard the crowd say we would rather pitch in on a cabin than camp for an over-nighter.

I have a big cooler, and I'll have Maggie get us some more of those awesome steaks from Sam's - that will be my contribution (at least part of it).

Connie said she will make either baked beans or stuffed green pepper soup, whichever you guys prefer, for me to bring. Do these cabins have electricity for a crock pot?
