August BOTM? Taking all bets! <<8/24: 101 Richlite 154CM>>

It's Grey and has the Buck logo on it. Any wood would have been better. It's the botm and it's stamped BUCK on the blade. With 800 produced, I'm sure every owner and future owner would have known what it is. Kinda looks like a steak knive. I believe the botm should be like artwork.
Thanks

I agree. I think the medallion looks toy-like. And given Buck is known for their traditional steel/wood aesthetic, I think anything would have been better than a resin scale. I’m not really a collector, all my knives are users to some degree, so I’m looking at this as a user blade, with a decent resale value if I don’t like it. With regards to it looking like a steak knife.. yeah, but many hunting knives are just repurposed paring/steak/butcher knives. The whole idea of a “hunting knife” is basically a marketing gimmick from the 20th century. But hey, it’s been working for quite a long time now.

But, and I respect that I’m in the minority here, I also don’t care about the prestige of the BOTM. If I had to pick I’d rather see Buck get back in business with copper and clad and make beautiful, affordable knives in different steel/wood combinations, that everyone could get their hands on, and ditch this high-priced BOTM exclusive limited edition thing all together. I know they’re not mutually exclusive, but that’s my opinion nevertheless.

Yea. I just meant the color scheme was boring like a steak knife.. would have been a lot nicer if it was green, orange, or textured like the "ritchlite" on the new alphas... just one man's opinion.

I think it would have been better for it NOT to be bareheaded but instead configured like the one BCCI club knife version that looked like a regular 110 folder..One like that would be very popular for Customs and absolutely would not look like a steak knife..

Arrived today! Needs a lanyard...

Received mine today as well. Love the drop point, and, as is typical, it’s razor sharp. Really don’t care for the scales. They remind me of a synthetic kitchen counter. Something that tries to look nice but isn’t the right material to actually be nice.

Given this, I only see this knife as a user, as it’s not even handsome enough to coddle. But I also enjoy using knives that have an aesthetic appeal, especially when doing something primeval/traditional like hunting. A paradox. I’ll consider it for a bit. I may sell it, or see if anyone wants to trade a drop point 420 101 for it, given the steel upgrade.
Anyhow, it’s definitely well made.
