Anyone ever seen these little buggers? I got this several years back from someone, I can't remember. It's a little keychain multitool.

Quick question for any of you guys using .300 AAC, I am starting to piece together an upper build.. any suggestions for a good/decent, but not bank breaking barrel? I have been looking for a 14.5"
Does cold hammering refer to literally cooling the hammers that strike the metal? or are they cold in comparison with the metal being beat on?

M4carbine.net is my favorite source for all things AR15 related or firearms in general. That's where I would start.

Popped over there real quick and there's even a thread asking for advice on this very question as well as a sticky for .300 parts.

Howdy, folks. I'll jump on in a bit catch up and start a nice little thread or two, but I played hooky today and went and played after I attended to the items I needed to check off the list. Here's a nice little summation of how my day's been though. :D

I've got two 300BLK AR's and a 300BLK Handi-Rifle, and I believe Weaponeer (who I haven't seen on here lately, but I think he lurks....) has the same.

One AR has a factory AAC 9" upper built as an SBR (short barreled rifle) after the ATF tax stamp came in. The other AR has a 16" stainless barrel from DS Arms. I just checked their site though and it looks like they no longer offer just the barrel. Weaponeer built his with a Stoner 16" barrel he got from Midway. I think the key to success for a carbine length gas system (some 16" barrels do come with "pistol" length gas systems) is that the gas port is 0.125". This gives you enough gas to operate with subsonic loads but not be over gassed with supers. I think most of the barrels from Brownells, Palmetto State Armory, or Midway would likely work.

Cold forging refers to the metal being cold while it is forged, as opposed to heating the metal during the forging.

If you haven't already discovered it, there is a forum on the 300BLK at the link below. I'm on there as GSO, and Weaponeer has the same handle there as here. Also, it is visited regularly by Robert Silvers (300Blk), the site admin and director of development at AAC when the cartridge was designed.

The top one is the carbine that is my primary pig gun. The bottom is the SBR with an AAC 762-SDN-6 suppressor on it. Haven't had a chance to shoot it at hogs, but was a lot of fun with subsonics at the range.

I suppose that's a different story. If someone opened a factory near my house and stunk up the neighborhood or it made my eyes burn I'd be a little miffed too. But if I moved into a house near a factory that was already running then I guess I'm SOL.

You'd think that would be the case, but people will move into an area KNOWING something is there and STILL bitch until they get their way.

Example: The Austin TX airport is Austin-Bergstrom INTL airport, on the site of Bergstrom AFB, located SE of town. Prior to that it was at Mueller Airport on the NE side of town. Back when Mueller was built in the 1950s, the airport was in the boonies in the middle of cow pastures. FF to the 90s and the pastures are now subdivisions and people are bitching about the noise. When BRAC shut down Begstrom, the city took over the base and moved the airport there. Less than 2 years later, people were bitching about the noise around the airport....... and guess what??? When Bergstrom was originally built back in the late 30s or early WW2 years, IT was in the middle of no where surrounded by cow pastures. Moral of the story - people are the south ends of north bound mules and will bitch about anything.

My internet is sucking today. Its slower than ever.

And my CPU keeps freezing... Then i get this "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" And the computer restarts.

Doesnt look like im missing much in here though. Pretty quiet night.

I have a dumb little challenge in mind, but I either need to find time to make the prize or just break down and buy something else for the prize.
