Because fishing is really not about catching....it's kind of a zen thing. For me, at least. Even though I always hope to actually catch something.

But this, yes this.

I can fish in a mud puddle thats 6" deep for 12 hours knowing there is nothing in the puddle if it means im out in the woods, alone, in the peace and quiet.

I'm with you on the meme - no even real sure what it is all about.

The fishing thing is not just about catching fish. It's about getting out and enjoying nature, and depending on the location, the peace and serenity that comes with the location. I have drowned many a worm and never caught a thing and was happy. If I caught something edible, that was just icing on the cake and made me happier.

I have also gone fishing and just flat didn't bait the hook. It's a great ploy to be left alone since many people believe that talking or making noise of any kind will "run the fish off" (both my grandfather and great-grandfather enforced silence while fishing with extreme prejudice).

Now, I agree with the 39 degrees part. Fishing should be warm - with shorts and cold drinks.

We were just playing, i just think its hilarious the faces he makes... He does have some sharp puppy teeth though LOL, but so far he has never tried to bite in anger... I do try and keep him to only biting at the hands and arms when playing though.

Once while playing he bit my nose.... So i bit his ear... Now he doesnt go towards my face anymore :D

I prefer the warmth as well... Im a Florida boy after all....

And i have also gone fishing and never even wormed up or baited the hook. I have used fishing to get away from others, even made it sound horrible so others wouldnt want to join me. Because im the type of person who WANTS the quiet. I dont mind talking with friends.... But if i go fishing with someone who never shuts up and lets me enjoy myself relaxing by the water... Its the last time i go fishing with that person.

Now sitting around the fire drinking some cold ones is a great time for talking IMO, but when im sitting by the water with my rod and a cold one or a lefty i just want to relax with nature. I dont give a rats a$$ what the fish have going on that day, im going to enjoy myself either way.

As far as fishing goes, I did just what you described on Thursday, but it was colder and I was perfectly happy. To compare it to something I think you understand, I think I remember you saying you like to drive. I'm like that too, give me a tank of fuel and an open road and I'm happy. Have you ever jumped in your car and drove with no destination in mind and still enjoyed it? Its not about the destination or the fish....its just something you enjoy doing for no real reason.

Haha. Yea, they are only playing... My fiance's pit bull will make all kinds if mean words when we are playing tug of war, but when it comes down to it, she would rather just lick you to death.

In other news, the craft beer scene of Louisville is treating me rather well..... please pardon any typos. And if there are no typos, it is all to the credit if my phone's autocorrect.

Its a quiet weekend.

I spent the last couple hours sanding on a knife... Finally got to that point where i was happy with my work and really like how it turned out......

Just to realize I still have to do the other side... :rolleyes:

But at almost 5am now.. thats a project for another quiet night LMAO
 
Fishing is a blast, whether you catch anything or not. It's very relaxing for me, even if I am casting and reeling in all day long. I used to go all the time, but hadn't gone for years. When my son and I went a few weeks ago, it gave me the fever again. I need to go get a new license. The old expires tomorrow.

I did this on occasion while growing up in Missouri. Every once in a while, though, a really desperate bluegill would see the shiny hook and latch on, forcing me to actually catch something.
 
Filled up a couple more of my old BPA water bottles.

That was the last of the BPA liter bottles. Guess I'll have to shoot the stuff if I find it now.

Seriously, it's as good a storage as any. Airtight so the copper doesn't corrode, and I don't use the bottles anymore since they contain BPA.
Of course, just about everything else plastic contains something that'll hurt you, so you're right. I should shoot that ammo, fill the bottles with bourbon, and put them to use.
 
Won't be long before Fans of Becker hits 800 and Fans of Ka-Bar hits 500.
If I still posted as much as I used to out in the other forums, we'd already be there and beyond.
Alas, I only have time for you reprobates, and not so much all the other reprobates.
