Of all 50ish countries in the Eu, why would you assume this?

Every Jenny Wren I've ever seen had a sharpened spike. First Jenny Wren I see w/out a sharpened spike is the one posted above as a European Special. Other than the engraving on the side that says European Special, the only difference I can see is the abbreviated and UNsharpened spike. Seems like a reasonable question to me. What am I missing?

You're missing the point. (< check that pun boi! lol)

Nah I was just messing cuz I'm tired of some people thinking Europe is a single place. When in reality, it's more like 50 countries with laws varying so massively it's really a silly blanket statement/advertisment to call something a 'European special'.

As an Englishman and 'European' that spike is not mentioned in any law I've ever read. But.. I recall vaguely a German law regarding double edged knives (Australia aslo, but not EU) but not enough to quote and spread misinformation.

I feel I'm that guy who's not shutting up lol..

I thought about saying Germany, but the engraving said European, as did the OP, so I went with that.
And I'm well aware that every country has different laws. Even more so than each state in the US has different laws.

No worries about continuing the point, except that we kinda hijacked the thread.

Just got a H&B Shawnee hawk in the mail today.

Was expecting a better fit of the head to the handle but it didn't take much time to fix. You can see where I sanded it. The other side is worse, the handle was gouged from the head.

With my CS hawks.

Ran across a picture of a modded carpenter/roofer's hatchet...looks killer and gave me the go ahead to do something with this head I picked up in a give away box a while back. The head is a Woodings-Verona 98-US. Here is my progress so far; nail puller cut out and ground smooth, beard edge started.

And here is the pic I found that spurred me:

Now I need to find a similar handle in a quality wood. I looked at sears yesterday and they have one that will fit, but its 17" long...I think the one in the picture has to be like 12-14".

Bit of a resto project...thought it was cool when I saw it in a junk/antique store so I fixed it up with a new handle with a "Best Made" paint job.Left the original patina as much as I could.
