Böker Plus Epicenter

Just had my Epicenter delivered about an hour ago. First impressions out of the box were favorable, very favorable. The blade is perfectly centered, even after I tightened it a smidge it still stayed centered. Opened, the lockup is excellent with approximately 1/4 of the blade tang covered by the lock. There is absolutely no movement detected, horizontally or vertically. The lockbar has nice stiffness without me adding addtional bend, and it snaps over to hold the blade in place once it is closed. On the blade itself the grind lines are perfectly matched from one side to the other, and the edge is razor sharp from one end to the other. One thing I noticed is the lack of a country of origin, in other words, no China. The front side has Boker Plus while the backside has Rexford Knives, VG-10, and the number 1462 (serial number?). The satin finish of the blade is even on both sides and looks great, while the bead blasted titanium of the handle is also evenly done and also great looking. The Epicenter came with the clip set for tip up carry and that is how I left it. This position allows about 1/2" of the handle to stick out of the pocket. I may try it tip down just to see if it is any better, i.e. sit deeper in the pocket. And always a chance I could turn it into a foldover clip and flame anodize it at the same time.

Now for the biggie, is this Chinese made knife worth the $135 I paid for it, and the answer is yes! Everything I can tell about this knife looks and feels just right, and it will have no problem making it into my edc lineup.

Yeah I've changed my mind on mine after getting over the cosmetic flaws and deciding to use it. I've used it for awhile now and its one good knife for the price. Its one of my favorite users, ironically cause it had cosmetic flaws and I decided since its not perfect put it to real use.

The vg10 is pretty good...I put it to test against my spyderco endura, and without any science involved id say the boker plus vg10 is pretty close in edge holding. Granted I did no science to come to this conclusion, just based on observation...so take that into account.

Does anyone here know anything about a Tree Brand Arbolito Böker Dein Messer Made in Solingen United States Marines folding spring assist knife?? I have one but really don't know anything about it because there is nose kings on the knife other then what I have mentioned.

Just got mine, and I want another. My favorite folder right now.
Smooth as butter.

Here's a comparison picture with 2 other popular knives.
You can see that the Epicenter is a robust design and a solid chunk of titanium.

Great picture, if the Epicenter had a deep pocket clip, it would be the best folder on the market IMO. I know that there are super steel knives out there, but for the price point to value, I say the Boker wins, IMO.

It fits right in ! Definitely on my "to-buy" list, it feels very nice in the hand and I'm perfectly fine with VG-10.
Had the opportunity to handle one in the Boker shop and it looks like they dealt with the issues they had with mismatching scales and all that.
The knife felt very solid, even after I don't know how many people handling it (it was their display knife)
It's kinda expensive though here, with ~180€, thats why I don't have one yet :(

Yes 180 Euros is expensive, that's too bad.
I have noticed the price here is a bit lower than last year , about 10% less, maybe the price will come down in Europe too.

I like the looks of this knife...but I'm wondering...at 7+ ounces how often it would actually get carried. Do you guys who own these find it's weight to be an impediment ?

Nonetheless, it seems to be a lot of knife at a great value.

I like larger folders, so the weight of this one doesn't bother me. But I only carry the larger knives on weekends when I'm wearing jeans.
During the week I carry small slipjoints because I work in an office.

BTW , I like the doghead Kabar your using as an avatar.

Just got one in a trade and I'm really liking it. I have one of the newer models so the fit and finish is really good on it. Blade slightly favors the left but not too bad. Something about the feel of smooth titanium really gets me. I think it's a great value and one I'll be holding on to for a while.

The 1st Gens had some issues, we all know how that goes.

But let me say I am HIGHLY impressed with the now 2nd Gen model.

I just received my Epicenter and it truly feels like a knife worth triple what I paid.

Plus the fact that I feel I got a great deal on it($102 shipped).

All I can say is anyone who has been contemplating picking one up, GO GET ONE!

Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that every one that goes out the door is perfect, because that's not true.

Sometimes Boker can be hit or miss, but I have many Boker knives and they all have been hits.

Just really can't say enough great things about this knife.

Do a google search for the best price. Deal spotting is against the rules. The epicenter has my favorite standoffs style. I'm glag boker kept that.

Imagine if a mini was made. My dear...

DUDE, that would be awesome, throw in a G-10 scale on the other side, on a stainless liner, and that's a winner for sure...I would by 3.
I just got my second one in, and I am working on getting another to gift to my little brother, he liked mine when I showed it to him.

I like everything about your idea, except the mini part. I like bigger knives, myself. Assuming it would be allot cheaper, id be all over it.

Sure, some of the Chinese products are crap. But some are very good..., VERY good. Look at those Strider, Hinderer, and Chris Reeve copies that hit the U.S. market recently. They are virtually indistinguishable from the real things in terms of use. I, for one, can't afford to shell out the mega buck for the real thing so I have to make do with a copy.

Look friend, don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

:thumbdn: Thats BS, if you can't afford it, save until you can. Buying a copy means taking money away from the person who put a lot of work into designing the original.
I want to get paid for my work, so does everyone in the knife industry, buying copies means someone doesn't get paid :thumbdn:

But 1st post, and commenting on chinese copies, smells fishy to me anyway
