Böker Plus Epicenter

Back to the topic, I should be getting mine in a couple days. This will be my first Boker and I'm really looking forward to it. 3.5" blade is usually a little small for me, but this will be the closest I ever get to a Rexford, so I'll make do. I'd love to see a 4" version honestly

Just want to add my thumbs ups for this gen Epicenter. I think this is the best value in a titanium framelock out there. It's not perfect but then again I don't have a perfect knife - if you look hard enough, you can find something to nitpick on anything. But for the design, ergonomics, materials, blade steel and price point, this puppy is one hell of a bargain.

I just got mine today and I still hadn't fighured out how to open the damned thing. It is so tight that I can't get the blade out by pushing the stud with my thumb. Holding it with one hand and pulling on the blade with the other is difficult because there is so little of the protruding blade surface for the finger to grasp. I finally succeeded by pulling on both sides of the thumb studs. It was very awkward and that's how fingers get cut.

Ultimately responsibility for quality control rests with Boker. Yes, the Chinese manufacturer did a poor job but Boker let it slip pass them.

Just got my Boker Epicenter in today. I must say, all the hesitation about a knife made in China is not unfounded. This knife is a prime example. It had the makings of a great EDC and a great price for two slabs of Ti. Unfortunately, the execution falls short just a bit. If this is due to QC issues and I just got a dud, someone else feel free to chime in, anytime. That being said, when first handled, because of its heft, felt solid- seemingly a real quality knife. It initially felt good in the hand, no hotspots and I like the choil. The opening is also very smooth and the blade was centered. Although, the lock was sticking a little bit.

Because of this knife's simplicity and the way it initially felt in the hand, please note the issues below, I really wanted to like this knife. If the quality of the execution were a tad bit better... Here are overall images of the knife.

Please note the following images for my main issue- the Ti slabs do not line up. Most notable at the choil and back of the handle. The space between the edge of the the handle and the standoffs are very uneven because of this. This is not only a cosmetic issue. Since the Ti slab protrudes longer on the lock side, where fingers actually come into contact, it feels a bit uncomfortable when gripping it tightly. There is also blade play from left to right- maybe just gotta tighten the pivot to fix that. But that also should have been picked up by QC- along with the screw ups on the beveling of the handle edges.

have you tried loosening the pivot? i use a pair of snap ring pliers to turn that odd pivot setup. point to note the snap ring pliers can easily slip and scratch your knife, so if that would bother you use plenty of painter's blue style tape that leaves no residue behind and layer it on there in case you slip. also always apply the go gently, in case you got lucky and there is some loctite in there.:)

works well for me, give it a try, if it's a no go, then send off to Terry at Bokerusa...he'll make it right.
