Hmm...to be honest i just wanted to try the blade profile and such. Maybe ill just get a bk9 and be done with it though.

Now that sounds like an idea. I have had a few BK9s (none currently in my possession), and it's a helluva knife. Well worth what they're asking for. Speaking of which, I have a nylon sheath with plastic insert for a 10" blade (leftover from an old Dogfather I used to have) that I can send off to someone. It's lonely, and looking for something sharp to spend the rest of it's life with...

Ive been looking for a nice big camp knife and thought that the Condor might work. I take it youve had both?

OK, this computer thing is starting to cut into my drinking time...gotta go, y'all!

Whoops, guess my work aint done yet. Anti, you got it. Had both, traded away the Hudson Bay, sold the BK9. But not because I didn't like it (the BK9), I just can't hold on to blades very long. Always looking around the next corner, I guess. But for a camp knife, I can think of lots more choices for the price (or cheaper) than the Condor Hudson Bay. And like I said, the BK9 is not that much more.

What other choices would you recommend? And you can answer me later, its no biggie

I lost track of who is offering what mora, so if anyone has a mora they would like to pay forward i would love to try one.

Just staying within the Condor brand, you have better choices IMO, such as the Kumunga, Varan, or even the Thai Enep. If you want to step up to the next price level, check out the Ka Bar Heavy Bowie, or the Cutlass Machete, for something bigger. Not sure what use your "camp knife" will see. Then, you can shell out the extra dough for a BK9. You could also look at Scrap Yard knives, or the ESEE Junglas for some big choppers. Comfortable handles, and a helluva hunk of steel. I could go on, but I think you're getting the idea. I personally don't carry big knives, like 9-10", as that overlaps into machete territory for me. My dream "camp knife" is an ESEE 6 with the custom Knife Connection handles in ranger green. That's what I'm saving my pennies for right now.

Putting up a CRKT stiff kiss. Johnbort2 has first right of refusal since he missed out on the MA-2 that I put up earlier and I know he is looking for some sort of necker. If he passes it goes to next in line to reply. Regards, and nice work to all the contributors of these PIFs.

This is the only picture I could find of it here at work. It served me well when I broke my wrist in the middle of a 3 day kayak trip.

John is out hunting but still managed to claim it via email!

It beckons me..

And you must not speak french lol.

"Je n'ai pas compris" is both more natural and correct.

So, yes, please. Oh I hope it's an old one too! :)

Haha - you're right. It's been a while so ill just not even try. YOu can have the Mora but its not an old one. It's the red handled 3/4 tang. It's in perfect condition as I never got it into the woods. Email me your address to rygarrett@gmail.com

Tramontina bolo or trail machete at 12-14" will outchop everything but a kukri or axe without fatiguing your arm. Get it from baryonyxknife.com and have hime square the spine for firesteel, and bring the edge down to the handle, and you will have the perfect woods tool.

Meh... im not too terribly impressed with machete with pine woods. I have bigger choppers, i was just sorta looking for a midrange 8 to 10 inch range

Maybe you're just an axe guy. I grew up with machetes. Soft woods like pine and foliage are what machetes are best at. Trust me when I say that size of Tramontina is the same weight as those 8-10" choppers, with more reach and better penetration because it is thinner but still strong, being wide from edge to spine. That thin blade also means less cuts, which translates to less work/fatigue. It's about the same between my 14" tram and my Junglas, only difference being I can snap and flick cut branches and thorns away as I'm walking without having to swing my whole arm.

What do you have now? From 6" up to your largest tool that isn't an axe.

Ive got a CRKT Stubby Folding Razel up for grabs, its been used for work so its scratched up and the leading point is rounded down.

If anyone has a Condor Hudson Bay or a Mora, id love to try one of them.

Would you mind a well used mora?
