I think something is wrong with me guys. I'm sitting here with a pocket full of Ti framelock perfection (0560) and yet I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of a simple Opinel!?! I think my postman is torturing me. The Opinel was supposed to arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday and I'm also still waiting on a package from Remy that sat for 3 days before moving according to tracking! I guess I should have giving him some cookies or something at Christmas. LoL

So am I the only one still up around here?

Unfortunately I am also up. Coping with insomnia by watching videos about my incoming packrat. Super freaking excited.

Maybe you're just an axe guy. I grew up with machetes. Soft woods like pine and foliage are what machetes are best at. Trust me when I say that size of Tramontina is the same weight as those 8-10" choppers, with more reach and better penetration because it is thinner but still strong, being wide from edge to spine. That thin blade also means less cuts, which translates to less work/fatigue. It's about the same between my 14" tram and my Junglas, only difference being I can snap and flick cut branches and thorns away as I'm walking without having to swing my whole arm.

What do you have now? From 6" up to your largest tool that isn't an axe.

Quite a lot actually, but its mostly 14" and over like the Condor Golok and KHHI Mukti. I do have a Machax that i got from the original thread but im sorta looking for something more traditional to try.

Would you mind a well used mora?

Looks like ive already got one coming, but thanks for offering!

If you are looking to pass that Machax on I was drooling over that thing in the original thread. Just sayin! ;)

Item #4

I noticed that insane Mukti in the "Massive Choppers" thread you started, how much does that sucker weigh?

My thoughts exactly! But hey you can do hours of research on anything if you try hard enough....

Don't I know it! I'm the research guy in the house, and I can spend months researching a major purchase. It's great when I go to buy a new car. I know far more about the model than the sales guy. It's funny to watch their reactions as I spout off esoterica, pull out graphs and pie charts, and generally nerd out.

You're still up? LOL...how many videos are there about the Packrat?

Eh, there's a few. Nutnfancy has a long one that took up some time. Looked at stats on the steel and tried to find something analogous I am familiar with, unsuccessfully, for a while.

That's a nice knife, I love old boyscout patterns, somebody take it! :)

Speaking of Opinel, going to order my first. The carbon steel versions are the "classics" for these, correct?

Just found out that my wife is going to have a second surgery on her thyroid. She had or has thyroid cancer and they didn't get it all with the first surgery. Selling all my collection but a few to pay for it. Life sucks sometimes!
