No problemo as far as changing the GOS patch if needed. If the patch won't get made, I'll take a couple of the other patches, your choice....

No problem with me on changing the GOS. Thanks for doing this. Good job.
Terry

All of the patches look great! I'm really looking forward to them. I'm also good with any changes that need to be made to GOS. Thanks for taking on the job of WS&S patchmaster.

No problem here with the GOS patch, whatever works will be A-OK with me!

Up to now, 7 out of the 11 people buying GOS have replied. All approve the change if necessary. I still hope (and I'll insist) that Stadri will do the patch as is, but if not, I'll go along with their proposed changes.

Edgar

Sorry I am late checking in.
I am fine with the changes on the GOS patch.
Thank you,
Brome

Update:

I called Stadri Friday, but there was no answer yet if they would do GOS as is. I hope to get an answer Monday.

Edgar

Yes. The patches (those with text) will read "WILDERNESS & SURVIVAL"

Thanks for the response. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I have been away.

The patches look FANTASTIC !!! Much better than I thought they would.

I would like thank to everyone involved for their hard work. I cannot wait to get them.

RONIN

Wow, the 3-color #1 looks fantastic!!! They all look great, but I am really diggin that one in particular. I can't wait for my patches to get here.

Preacher, sent you a PM and email.

Hey if possible I'd like to add one of each of.

Modified #2
3 color #1
3 color #2

I didn't know 3 color #2 was being made.

Let me know if this is possible and how much to send you.

Thanks for doing this, they look great.

Update:

Still no definite decision from Stadri on GOS, but Liz (the person working our order at Stadri) found the original patch at the Wauwepex society site, so there's hope. She sent our order with the info on the original patch up the company ladder for approval. I'm praying that the patch is done as is. Those of you who believe in prayer please feel free to join me. I know it may seem a little silly to pray for something like this, but I pray for about everything. It's part of my job. :D

So what was the problem with the GOS patch? I know that it has the same shape as the Council Shoulder patches that scouts use, but the scouts can't be the only people that are allowed to make a patch in that shape, can they? If so, I am going to get approval to be the only person allowed to make circular patches. As someone who has been involved in scouts for close to 20 years, I find it amazing that anyone would have a problem with the patch. But then again, a lot of the people who work full time (ie. collect a salary) with the scouts are just businessmen and not necessarily life-time scouters. I guess they just don't have the sense of humor that most of us scouts and scouters have.

I think you are right, they don't see the humor in the patch. Although Stadri is a licensed provider for BSA patches, obviously some employess don't understand scouting at all and their lack of a sense of humor is the real problem with the GOS patch.

The patch got stoped when it was sent for the embroidered sample. Someone thought the BSA wouldn't apreciate the patch. Hopefully, now that they know that an organization related with the Scouts designed the original patch, they'll realize that they're worring about a none existing problem.

Preacher, I am going to the bank in the morning. I have a meeting in the afternnon and a funeral after that so I need to try and sleep to get up early enough. Thanks for the patience and the opportunity.

Update.

Can you say Redtape?

Stadri comfirmed that GOS is orifinally a BSA council patch, so now they can't make it unless someone involved with the Scouts orders it. I know some of you guys are Scout Masters or related with the scouts. If we provide name, Council information, and phone number they may be able to forgo the redtape and do GOS as is.

I'll email Thomas Linton and AustinTXShooter who I know are related to the Scouts in some way. If anyone else can help, please let me know.

Edgar

I am not involved officially anymore, but my dad is still the scoutmaster of a troop here in Texas. Let us know what we need to do.

I need name, Council information, and phone number. With that information Stadri can comfirm the oficial relation with the BSA and resolve the situation.

Edgar

Guys, I'm thinking that you didn't sufficiently change the "burning man" image. It is the intellectual property of someone else, apparently the BSA. Without their permission, I can see how the patchmaker would be hesitant to make that patch for us.

I assume that we can still draw our own guy on a spit, it just shouldn't be an exact copy of their patch. So lose the scout uniform and add some knives!
