I'm been very careful now that everything is stable again. I was actually concern about my blood pressure, it got really high for a couple of days (160/111) but now is closer to normal. I do have to see my doctor to make sure it was a one time thing caused by all the medication I'm taking, and not the begining of hypertension.

The patches come third, after your health and your kins' health!

I know, and since you guys don't have your patches yet, you also know I'm taking my time with this. Truth be told, the first few days of been so sick and not having internet access, I was so concerned about not been able to send the patches (and not been able to work for that matter) that I was stressing out. Then I realized that there was nothing I could do about it, so I might as well try to relax and get better. I decided it was better to get completely well and then do what I have to do than to risk a relapse and extend my " down time" .

And again, know we all appreciate your spearheading this whole program!

I know. And I want you guys to know that I appreaciate your patience, prayers, and good wishes.

Guys, if this wasn't happening to me I would say this is something out of a bad comedy. I have a bad case of Chicken Pox. I'm 45 years old, and now I have chicken pox.

I took 3 courses of oral steroids (Prednisone) for 22 days for my asthma and neck swelling (finished them last Friday) and inhaled steroids (Advair) for the last 16 days. Turns out (I didn't know this) that steroids depress the immune system. February 6, I went back to church for the first time in three weeks to do my regular Pastoral duties (my co-pastor had been filling-in for me) and I got in contact with someone who (I didn't know) had recently been exposed to Chicken Pox. The boils started to show this Tuesday evening, started to hurt Wednesday afternoon, and by Wednesday evening I was covered with them. Because my immune system was depressed, (that's what the doctor told me) the virus hit me very hard and that's why it spread so fast and is such a painful experience. I'm taking Valtrex to try to control the virus and Vicodin for the pain.

I'm going slowly, but I'm almost done with the shipping labels. The patches and the envelopes are still sealed. I'll have my wife and kids help me to stuff the envelopes (I don't think you want me to touch those, at least not while I'm contagious) and get everything ready for shipping. My plan was to start shipping this weekend, but I think that will happen next week.

Guys, I'm so sorry this has taken so long. I want to assure you that you will get your patches soon. As a minister, the only thing of value that I posses is my reputation, and although I know you guys understand this almost comedic sucession of illnesses, I also know that you have been very patient and waiting for quite a while now.

I'll try to start shipping them next week. If I realize that I'm unable to do this, I'll divide the patches between the two people who offered to help with shipping, as not to delay the shipping any more. I’ve avoided this because of the added complication of properly dividing the money to cover the shipping (shipping was an estimate and I will not know if I was off until I get to the Post Office. If I was off, my intention is to cover the difference out of my pocket, but I can’t expect anyone else to do this).

Again, sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience.

Edgar

Just keep smiling PM and look after yourself ;). The patches will get here when they get here, they'll be a nice surprise when they arrive in the post.

Health update:

I went the back to the doctor today because of what I thought was a secondary infection. Well, the good news is that it turns out I don't have Chicken Pox. The bad news is that no one knows for sure what I have. After getting a second oppinion, the doctor rushed me to a specialist who thinks (but is not sure) that what I have is a reaction to one of the antibiotics I took. If that's the case, the condition is not contagious and can eventually go away on its own. Since she isn't sure, the specialist took biopsies from two of the different forms of the boils I have. Now I'll have to wait for the biopsy results. Meanwhile the specialist told me to stoped all medications I'm taking with the exception of a corticosteroidal oilment to help with the boils' swelling, itching, and pain.

All that aside, I'm felling somewhat better. IF my health continues to improve this way, it is a possibility that I can start to mail the patches by the weekend.

Edgar

Guys, I'm doing much better. I haven't received the results of the biopsies yet, but the boils are almost completely gone and have been replaced by flat red patches, the skin over and around which is peeling away. Some of the patches are even slowly fading away. The pain is gone, and I only have occasional intense itching. The weakness is almost completely gone, and I don't experience fatigue any more after minimal physical activity.

The shipping labels are done and I'll start stuffing envelopes and shipping patches this week. It most likely that what I have was not contagious and if it was, that the contagious stage is way passed, but to be on the safe side I'll handle the patches with gloves. Till now, I kept the patches in their protective bags and the padded envelopes in their shrink wrap to avoid contaminating them. I'll either expose the patches to UV light or pass them through the microwave to disinfect them, just to be on the safe side. Hopefully some of you will start receiving the patches by the weekend or early next week.

Again, thank you all for your patience and understanding. I know that you understand that this delay was out of my control, but it is still stressful to know that you all had to wait an extra month for your patches on account of my health. I appreciate your willingness to allow me the peace of mind of putting my health and family first.

Edgar

right on edgar.... glad to hear you're feeling better...

looking forward to checking out those patches....:D thanks again...

Well, the good news is that it turns out I don't have Chicken Pox.

You have no idea. I got the CP when I was in my late 30's from my sons. Took 2 weeks on my back and another month before I was pretty close to back to normal. Bad, bad mojo.

Again, all this other stuff is second or third to your health. Glad your on the mend. Keep going in that direction.

Gene,

I did get your letter, so you are set. I hope your computer didn't get infected. This virus is very insedious, bad enough that Norton Antivirus can detect it, but can't eliminate it or quarantine it. This is a two-part virus, a downloader and a deceiver. The downloader downloads the deceiuer, and the deceiver re-writes some Windows files. It forces your computer to conect to the internet and send God knows what. To verify if your computer is infected you need to physically disconect your internet connection (disconnect
the phone/DSL line) and restart your computer. If infected, the virus will force your computer to restart again and again in an atempt to find
an internet connection. If your
computer does not restart on its own, it is not infected.

Edgar

Thanks for letting me know you got my letter Edgar; and the computer fix:thumbup: I know you've been through a heck of a sick spell and everyone's been pulling for you to get well. It's not the patches, we miss your posts! Besides, if the patches arrive within the same year ordered, that's still faster than most custom knives:D

Update:

The biopsy results came back, and what I have is called Sweet's Syndrome. It isn't contagious, so I'm not living in quarantine any more. I start the treatment for it Monday. Hopefuly that will take care of the pain, tiredness, and all the other syntomes. I'm hopeful I won't have any scars, at least not on my face.

The first orders will be on their way Tuesday. I'll post the list of mailed orders.

Edgar
