B.o.b

I have 4 of these bags... all with slightly different, but essentially the same, stuff.

Here's my Go-bag... everything should be visible. 10 day supply of food, fire steel, 3 lighters, survival guide, string, para-cord, 3 different purpose knives, multitool, Head-Lamp flashlight, hand powered flashlight/radio, mess kit for cooking/boiling water, Water storage bag, waterproof storage for matches, lighters and fire steel, mylar blanket, signaling mirror, frog/fish spear head, and 80 foot of coiled wire.... best i can figure, this kit is sufficient to keep me alive in the woods (uncomfortably) indefinitely.

This kit does not show my firearms. I will be armed with a BARE MINIMUM of a Glock 22 (.40 cal) and a Browning .308 rifle with 100 rounds each. Depending on the situation, i have heavier firearms avaliable.

I'd DEFINITELY prefer to "Bug In" as i have a 6 month supply of food, a solar panel rig, and a much better set of gear than i could easily carry, but if time comes to head for the hills, i'm ready

Nice bag and kit! You have a large emphasis on food, but shelter seems to only consist of a mylar space blanket. I know the best things one can carry are in their head and you can't eat that! :) So what are your shelter options once out and about that fit you most? Thanks!

I know how to make shelters from what is around me, and the temperature here is not extreme. I also have insulated coveralls that function in place of a sleeping bag if it happens to be winter when things go bad.

Food is more important than shelter when moving through a semi-populated/developed area, and if i find myself in the deep woods, i can always make an elevated platform to sleep on until a more permanent shelter can be made. The mylar blanket is in the pack because it makes a highly effective rainproof cover for any shelter than i build.

Thanks for the info!

Just found this video. Thought it was good as he was doing it for insurance purposes and ran through the contents quickly and clearly. Most people would take 30 minutes to do the same as they just blab on with nonsense filler and uncomfortable moments of what to say. Just say the contents! :D

Thanks for bringing this post back up! I am sure there is alot of people who didn't see it before and have things to add!

That was the plan:thumbup:

I have a voodoo tactical rifle bag for gun stuff, I got a Vulture II bag for bug out bag stuff, and I have a room set aside for when bug in scrounging comes along. Misc. MREs, paracord, all kinds of NiteIze gear ties and S-biners. All flashlights are AA and I'm looking into getting the GoalZero Nomad 7 to feed my eneloops.

Right now it's a matter of looking at suggestions, throwing everything in to a pile and starting to pack up. Ex-Officio makes great low maintenance clothing, and I'm probably going to use LokSacks to keep everything organized and dry. Fishing lines and fishing hooks are a good call.

Depending on much I like the 1311, I might put my TTKZ on the exchange to buy more gear.

The Hydropack X-Pack is a great addition to a B.O.B. for 2.5 LBs of carry weight you get 44+ LBs of pure sports drink complete hydration and it's a system that filters out everything including water borne viruses which is RARE for any portable water filtration system.
And it will give you pure hydration from even heavily contaminated water sources.

I have used this system on two past occasions and it's fantastic.

A while back, I built a bag based on my Rucki as a starting point, and used it this past Summer during some hiking/camping outings with my brother. Here is the dissection.

Hi Halveye,

Thanks for posting that list! For a saw you may wish to try something like a medium Silky. They are really nice. The link to the slide show is not getting to the right pages.

A whistle, either I missed it or you don't have one. Get one. Used mine multiple times camping. Does not have to be an emergency, but just yelling to get attention sucks.

Sorry about the link, but it's fixed now. Thanks Tixx, I'll have to look that saw up. I have a small survival whistle attached to a magnesium striker.

Here is the good one:
Pack Kifaru MMR/EMR with all the pouches and sacks

Fire: Firesteel.com bunker or Armegeddon with petrolium soaked cotton balls or stick of magnezium. lighter, fireproof matches

Light: a tactical (Surefire Defender or many other good lights), headlight - Zebralight H51. Signaling mirror. 6 inch chemlights (12 hour ones)

Water: MSR DromeDary/Platipus/Camelbak/Nalgene + filtration pills/iodine/filters

Shelter: Wiggys Sleeping bags, bivvy/tarp/survival heat reflecting blanker/Tent

Clothing: Depends on where you live, but layers are in order: moisture wicking next to body coolmax (Patagonia Capeline, under armour, XGO, Nike, etc)
Mid-layer - expedition weight top and buttom - I like REI stuff. Top layer - Goretex/rain & Windproof layer). Gloves/balaclava, bandana/shemagh, winter hat, sun/rain hat (OR Seattle), good socks: Darn Tough/Smartwool/Coolmax quick drying. Ex-Officio coolmax underwear layers..

Weapons:
Folder - ZT0560 or Medford Fat Daddy
Fixed blade - Busse of 6 inches or more or ESEE/Crusader Forge/BRKT/etc
Pistol: FNX-45 tactical - 15 rounds of .45 + 2 extra magazines (depending on your state laws)
Rifle: Colt AR-15 with a few magpul 30 round magazines (depending on your state laws)
Hunting rifle: pellet or .22 for small game.. 1000 of pellets take up almost no space and can provide ammo for small game for years.
Slingshot - small game weapon with unlimited ammo (rocks, etc)
Axe, hawk and portable saw

First Aid Kit: Adventure medical kits come handy and with most of the goodies already. A Whistle

Food/Supplies:
Large Trash bag, MSR Stove, Aluminum foil, salt/pepper/spices/hot sauce, 550/750 paracord, heavy duty zip-ties, carabiners, tuff writer tactical pen and notepad. Vitamins/MREs/3600 calorie bars/electrolytes (can use salt), solar charger. Fishing gear and supplies..

At the very least you should have a bottle of JWB... it's hard to worry much about the apocalypse if you have a good buzz on

Hahahaha a shelter made of fruit roll ups. . . . Amazing  I should add a bottle of JW in there to wash the fruit roll ups down. . . . That would be a weird combination
