Baby Commander (CommandAir) project continues.

I can't wait to see the final outcome. I have the Commander ready to send. What finish is he going to put on the blade. Scotch brite, 1200 grit ?

I'm thinking black Teflon, but there again, a nice Satin would be in keeping with the spirit of the project. Wouldn't want it looking menacing. Hmmmmm

Is it possible to keep a Commander\CommandAir from looking menacing? God, I certainly hope not.

I've decided that when my turn arrives, I'm going to have a recently acquired lefty Commander converted into the CommandAir. It'll make a near perfect offside daily carry, along with my Commander2000 BTS strongside, and my LaGriffe.
And I tend to agree with John; The purpose of the CommandAir is primarily for airline travel, so it's important that it look as innocuous as possible. Why invite hassles when you're in a hurry to board a flight? I think that this blade is going to look vicious enough without us coating the blades a nice shade of death-black (my personal favorite shade of black!). Ideally, I would hardchrome (or NP3)the blade and also have some fancy linen micarta scales made for it. That might tone it down a bit.
However, if the Ti-Commanders ever get produced, and we chop them into CommandAir Stealths, all black might be appropriate.

Maybe we can make (or find) micarta scales with happy faces embedded. Can't look too menacing with these

everywhere...

Nope not yet.

I'm still talking with Kevin and Bill about the project. We may have hit a snag. We're checking to see if they should have the body work done first or the blade work.
