Back on track

I gotta say I really admire the property that so many of you guys own or have access to. I work a big city job that requires a daily suit and tie for the long work day. When I see some of the pics you guys post, well, it seems like heavenly bliss.
You just live in a different type of jungle but you have the Becker spirit and that's the most important part.

that made me cringe at that suit and tie in a big city ... wondering if the BK5 or BK9 would chop the sleeves and tie off better ... ???

GeofS GeofS , I live in a small central Illinois town. The land of corn and beans. Nothing woodsy around here, except for a park on the river in Springfield I go to on occasion. I luckily own a little cabin in Missouri for about 3 or 4 years now, and that's where my knives get used 99% of the time. Before I got my cabin, I rarely used my knives.

I live in a sleepy small hillbilly villageabout 20 miles south of the city Örebro. I work in the city wearing dirty safety yellow and orange..
We have the forest(county owned) just outside our small property(houseowner).
The wifey and me are thinking of moving to an apartment in the nearest town mainly to get easier access to healthcare, nearer to work.... Bla bla... Still easy access to the woods though
One great thing about the outdoors here in Sweden is the Allemansrätt. Its a law that gives everyone the right to use the great outdoors for hiking and such whithout the landowners permission.

Since there are two working dogs in the household theres lots of time spent in the great outdoor.

Batoning..
Brute vs The King.
Birch and Oak.

First time batoning oak, hard... Real hard wood
Seasoned well.. Leftovers from a clearcut two years ago.

Snap-cuts in "oak-quart".
Similar deapth but big differance in cut-shape due to edge/grind.

Closer look at cuts.

Oak seems to eat the coating 10 times worse than the birch i'm used to..

Fun, fun, fun :D
Really love the way the Brute performs!
Feels a bit more like an axe compared to the BK9's knife feel.
Did snapcut a few "birch-bits" (4,5-5 inches in dia) in half using the Brute
The BK9 not so much... But the King IS a greater allrounder!

Thanks!
Not the wilderness exactly... Batoning inside our dogyard/patio-combo :D.
But i like to test gear in a controlled maner before usage in the wild or in defcon5 situations :p

Wish i could have had just one of all these Beckers on me in 1990-91 when in the army... Would have made woodswork much easier. We were issued Moras (similar to 511) that were great for making hotdog-sticks for the campfire but not much more.
The bayonet wasnt great for anything exept its intended use up front on the G3.
We had a saw and an axe per tentkit... A tentkit per halfplatoon circa, so limited acess to such things.
Hmm... Brings back memories. Need to find one of those foldable "fieldshovels" and dig a few foxholes in the lawn.
Or maybe not :D:D
