Back pocket carry?

I used to backpocket carry until the clip caught on the edge of my bike jacket and the knife lifted out.

Now, the clipped knife goes in the front pocket (or ruler pocket--depending) and the slipjoint goes in a pouch, which is lanyarded to the belt. The pouch keeps the slippie accessible and upright.

Back pocket carry doesn't bother me. I carry an XM-18 back there every once in awhile. I don't like to carry it that way too often becuase it feels like it would be easy to pick pocket it when I'm not paying attention. I've had a wallet stolen before in the back pocket.

Aways carried a knife in my right rear pocket, vurrently a spyderco Endura
Native in lfp
comfortable and accesable
also use a becker neck knife now thats a cool knife!

I have carried slip joint knives in my back pocket but never pocket clip knives...that is why I buy them so I can clip them in my front pocket. But larger slip joint knives like trappers, sod busters, my Case Sharktooth, are too big to just drop in the front. I just found a great holster maker tho that does open top belt sheaths for large knives and I am carrying my Camillus Carbon V trapper in one and I like it better than a pocket clip even. It also serves to lock my strong side holster in place so it doesn't move at all.

I typically carry a Case Trapper vertically in my RRP. FRP always has a Spyderco, Benchmade, or Sebenza clipped. The FRP also has a smaller slippie deep. Three knife minimum.

I typically carry knives with a pocket clip in my right rear pocket.

Left front pocket is for keys.
Right front pocket is for slippy.
watch pocket is for pocket watch.
Left rear pocket is for wallet

My right back pocket is the spot for my Reg. small Sebbie with PS/E it's a great fit.

In warmer climes, with short pants being the rule, the right front cargo pocket works for me.

Carrying anything in your back pocket is open for quick, sticky fingers, but as far as comfort goes, I routinely carry my Cold Steel Gunsite 5-incher in my rear left pocket. I also have carried my CS Voyager 4-incher in my wallet pocket next to my wallet. Some of my heavier knives, like my CRKT M21-04, sinks to the bottom of my pocket like a frickin' submarine. So do my smaller knives, like the Spyderco Native and the CS medium Voyager (both of which also fit in my wallet pocket and are kept upright by the wallet).

For longer knives I prefer back pocket carry. They do not get in the way as much and I often forget they are there.

I carry my folder in my front right pocket, and my Victorinox fieldmaster in my back right pocket vertically beside my wallet. It keeps it from going horizontal in the bottom of my pocket. That's where it hurts.

I used to carry a knife in my back pocket. Started with a Victorinox classic, then switched to Victorinox Secretary. I decided that it was too much of a hassle to reach back behind my wallet to dig out a knife.

Dude this thread is over 7 years old.

If I have a modern with clip it often goes in my right rear pocket or in a leg pocket with cargo type pants. The clip can wear upholstery or if snagged, tear a hole. I generally remove the knife from my back pocket if I am sitting down for more than a couple minutes, like in a car. I usually have a SAK in my right front pants pocket.

I carry my "modern" folders in my back pocket.

Large, thick knives like a Shirogorov 111 or an Olamic Wayfarer are uncomfortable to sit on, but I never notice my Manix 2 LW. Thin knives like a BM 940 tend to sit just to the side of my ass. No issues at all. Those high falutin' milled pocket clips don't fare well under weight and lateral torque though.
