We need to get the last details of the BF Annual knife down. A clear majority want traditional bone handles, so please stick to the subject.
We have had some discussion about bone handle jigging.
Most of you have seen what GEC can do. Some have advocated worm-groove type jigging, others like Lyle's Lick Creek Farmer's Jack Jigging. Let's discuss it a little more, and most important, please post some pictures (GEC or not) of what you'd like to see in the handle department. Thanks in advance for your input!!

I like the lick creek pattern over the worm grove but I also wouldn't mind seeing a smooth oiled bone. I think it is a win, regardless of the outcome. Thanks Charlie!

I like the jigged bone they did on the recent run of EO 85s, the antique yellow. Really nice. Not a huge fan of the worm groove, but I'm loving what has been decided on for the pattern on this one so I'm likely in regardless.

GEC 538311 Stockman - Shown for the jigging pattern only NOT the color. But it is a nice looking subdued green.

You said it Charlie, I'm a big fan of Lyle's jigging on the middle Farmer Jack!! I like how random Lyle's herringbone pattern is. It looks more handmade to me--like it belongs on one of your Ancient Barlows or another knife of a long bygone era.

Some regular patterned jigging like Schrade's peach-seed jigging looks good to me, but many look very "un-handmade", if that makes sense.

if jigged i like Modoc Ed's ^^^, but smooth oiled bone is nice as well. if it is jigged, i guess i'd like a dense type of jigging. i'll try to find some pics, plus i've got a new phone so once i figure out how to up-load photos i'll be good to go.
thanks, Neal
that middle farmers jack is special too

I really like the jigging on Modoc ED's example. Not to throw things off, but soup bone could also be incredible and unique.

GEC did a fine job on this #55 hounds Tooth. And the smooth oiled bone is always a great choice.

I have always admired the carved bone that they did early on

This moose owned by Pete (stitch2442) is my favorite. The just barely burnt color goes so good with the carving. It goes great with the equal end frame as well!

the top two and bottom look great( they have more than a touch of the dense jigging i was speaking of-for sure the top one ). out of curiosity can oiled bone be stained before finishing? i love the grey/gray tan look of natural bone, but pre-staining may be something to consider if possible. and s long as it wouldn't add significantly to the price. is there a large price point change between the handle/scale type? is there a traditional lean towards one type or the other? i'm going to guess the answer as jigged, but don't know for certain.
thanks, Neal

Charlie, your SFO rope knives had some great jigging.
