Back to the Forum Knife - Handles only

Not sure the name of this style of jigging, but Case did it well in the early 1970's. OH

I liked their Horsecut Jigged Bone, nice light/dark contrasts. Good shield too....

Another type of bone that would look fantastic is some sort of Apaloosa Bone, smooth or jigged, or lighter variants too, here's Böker's

I like many different styles of jigging and have never been partial to any one style in particular. But this corn cob jigging really tickled my fancy.

Working some long hours lately and had to catch up around here. I Barrowed a few pictures from web to help contribute to the handle discussion. I feel like a lot of folks dislike worm groove because when done poorly it's not all that great to look at. Although we've not got much to go on for a GEC rendition they do excellent bone work and id think it'd come out pretty nice, not at all married to the idea just my 2¢.

The worm groove on this old Case is really nice IMHO.

I do also really like the pick bone jigging on the Lick Creek knives and think it would be a great choice. I just try and keep in mind that it can look different from knife to knife as these covers are similar yet different than those on page 1.

And this old Remington, well it's pretty much amazing in the jigging department.

We all win regardless, as there's no real bad option being presented.

I vote fir ED's example. The green is a nice color too, but that decision comes later.

This. I prefer jigging with a randomness to it. Really liking that vintage Case jigging posted by Old Hunter also.

I agree with Shaggy. I like a more random pattern to the jigging. Here's some Schrade jigged bone that I find attractive.

I think I cast a Yea for worm groove in the other thread...but, having seen more of it, I'm not as thrilled. Some of it is awesome; but some is pretty awful (IMO, of course). I do like the example posted by StoneBeard. Smooth oiled bone vs jigged? Flip a coin, then hand me a knife - I have no strong preference

If handles are bone, I like jigging of many types,
just not a fan of worm-groove.

Another vote for the deep random jigging like on the rope knife:

I think it would look better for this knife than the more regular, machined look:

Of course, I'm in whichever way it goes.

Another vote for the Rope knife jigging. I would like to see a different color. Blue or green would be nice. But I do like the 98's antique autumn and amber colors.

To keep it simple, my vote goes towards the farmer Jack's jigging, but anything of the random variety would be just dandy.
Also, I know it's a gamble, but I think GEC could pull off some nice work groove if we give them the chance. Done right, it would be my top choice by far.
The Camillus(?) on the other thread with the compass as a shield was a wonderful example of what I'm hoping for.
Regardless, whatever they produce is sure to be a winner.

Are the work in progress pics up yet?:D

Wow! I've never seen that style before. Love it! I'd say something like this, or Worm Grooves that has been mentioned before.

The burnt orange from Charlies SFO 98's is very dark/rich looking. Combine that color with the rope knife jigging and, in my opinion, it would look great...
