Bad deal with a member on the forum. Opinions?

Did you already hive him feedback? If what you say is true (which I don't doubt it is) then I would like to know who it is so I can avoid dealing with them. Sorry for your troubles.

Thanks for the good words.
I would like to give him a few more days to respond before calling him out on what type of person I feel he is.
That being said, he has been on the forum the past few days, and I am sure well aware of this thread. I have sent him invites, emails, and called him, but to no prevail. Just seems to me that he just wants to let this ride out and take the negative feedback, who knows.

As far as the word mint, I would really just like to know if it is in excellent condition, if any flaws, mention them, that’s all.
As for now, I am a bit gun-shy on the whole trust and trading format.

Hey man, sorry for your bad experience in that deal, but don't loose your trust in the community of this or one of the other forums because of a black sheep.
I had a lot of really good experiences buying / trading knives and always made sure that both sides were happy. That is also my opinion to your question
MINT is flawless - Describe your goods as good and truthful as you can, take detailed pics and in a sell:
Don't spend the money until the buyer received the knife and is happy. In my opinion the seller should offer you your money back because scratches & cracks are far from mint.
 By the way: Respect for being so calm and Gentleman like and keeping it factual, but I think it's time to call the seller out, so we know who to avoid.
If he is online on the forum and does not even answer your call or emails, I do not want to run into this guy in any upcoming deal in the future :thumbdn:

Just wanted to post the last few email I had sent:

Talked to Les today and he remembers the knife. He stated to me that it would cost upwards of $300 to replace the handle material & refurbish the other scratches. I would like to see what you think.
Please let me know,
Derek

What is your problem?
Why don't you respond?

You are forcing me to leave you negative feedback on all the Knife and Gun forums.
If you are having $ flow problems, just give me a call. I would like to work this out.
I will give it a few more days.

MAN UP ! ! !

Derek

Finally;
I am discouraged

The very least the seller could do is respond.

Sometimes silence equals guilt, it is starting to seem like the seller KNEW his description of the knife was bogus and is now maintaining silence because he has no legitimate explanation.

Why destroy a reputation over one knife???

Time for the Seller's story.......................

Of all the handle material that I have seen Ivory, shell material and snakewood are the biggest pain. That said a small crack in the ivory is not a big deal. However, it's pretty crappy of the seller to wuss out on the deal if your not happy the deal isn't done period.

I had a custom maker offer me a choice of 3 neck knives with pre-ban "legal" ivory handles. These are always nicer than mammoth ivory and everyone of them still had a minor flaw or two in them. If you could see the pics and noticed it then I don't think you have any beef at all. I glanced through the posts and didn't read any mention of images. Did you buy it sight unseen? I can't comment on a scuff or scratch because I don't see any. That ivory is not "terrible" IMHO. :)
