I ordered an alpha ready made which arrived with what I found to be a somewhat dirty reflector after talking with other ready made users. It had a lot of dust-like stuff and a fiber on the reflector:

So I contacted Jason about it, and he seemed like he was willing to fix the issue by exchanging my light for one with a clean reflector. I sent the light back to him and waited. I had to send a reminder to him to get my light back because he apparently forgot about it. So he sends a new light back to me, and this is what I get:

The new light had scratches, dust, and what looks like an intentionally placed finger print smudge! The hell? I sent several emails to Jason about the issue, and he never responded. I had to file a claim through PayPal to return the light and get my money back. I'll never do business with Prometheus lights again. Buyer beware!

Let Jason know you are absolutely unhappy. I would be surprised if he did not step up and make things right.
All it takes is one bad deal and one poor showing in resolving the issue to severely damage a business of this type!!

This Prometheus Lights?

Yes. Also this Prometheus lights:

I'm just one guy and I do the best work I can. If you have a problem with one of my products and you are nice about it, I'll go out of my way to exceed your expectations. If you have a problem and you are a jerk about it, you should expect me to respond in kind. Seriously. I don't have the time or patience to deal with unreasonable people, and since I'm making the rules, that's my rule.

I forwarded a copy of the thread to darksucks, it's always good to get the story from both perspectives. Up to this point I have only heard positive things about Prometheus.

That being said, I agree with Thomas that it doesn't take many comments like that to hurt a small business if they are accurate.

Jason responded and as often there is with these situations it seems there is another side to this story that the OP didn't post. I would like to ask knife117, did Jason refund your original purchase price for the light after trying several times to make it right?

I don't know what Jason told you. Could you post it? He tried only once to make it right. He sent me the light shown in the second and third pics of my original post with the smudged and scratched reflector. When I contacted him about that, he never responded, so I had to use a PayPal claim to FORCE him to give me a refund.

Jason asked that I not post his comments, I didn't ask why but I respect his wishes. He is aware of the thread, I suggested he submit his side and offered to post anything further he would like posted if he desires. I don't know if he is a member here or not. I will add for never having spoken with him he was very cordial and professional to me.

May I ask do you have the light as well as the PayPal refund at this point or was the light returned after you got a refund?

So you think I got a refund and kept the light? Really? I certainly wouldn't do that.

Regardless, PayPal only gives a refund once they have confirmed that the package was delivered to the seller through the package's tracking info.

If he won't comment here himself, then there's no point in speculating on anything. I'm only posting my experience as it happened so others are aware. I know I'm not the only one who dislikes a dirty/scratched/smudged flashlight reflector in a $300 light.

I had an issue with a light and Jason bent over backwards to make it right....in fact it was not on his end....it was on mine, and he did not have to fix the issue.

Hope something is worked out here.

I was simply asking how the return was handled. I am not trying to take sides but get the whole story. You are an unhappy customer and I understand that. However, you now seem to be on a mission to slander his company/reputation for a transaction that you were made whole from save some time lost? That's your own prerogative at this point, potential customers may form their own conclusion to do business with darksucks from here on out. I feel originally you were trying to get a light you felt met your expectations. Then your goal switched to warning potential customers of issues they may run into with this company but it has ventured beyond that now.
This by my count being your 4th thread on the same matter I can start to see why Jason would not want to respond anymore. Perhaps you can tell the rest of us what you would like done to meet your personal satisfaction at this point?

No offense intended to Blownnova, but I have no way of knowing if you are actually corresponding with Jason or not. If he cannot be bothered to respond to this thread, then I place ZERO value on any messages that you are relaying from him. I have no idea what happened between Knife117 and the Jason. Until Jason posts his side of this, what he may or may not have said about this transaction is just gossip.

ncrockclimb was being polite so I will ask....Who exactly are you and why are you getting involved? As has been said, paypal will not refund unless the package is returned. So why come in here and stir things up like this?

Wow, if this is not important enough for jason to speak for himself then I can only hope his customer service skills are not reflective of his flashlight making skills. it only takes one bad experience and one horrendous showing by the maker/seller to lose a boatload of customers.
My guess is that Jason is quickly losing a few (customers) right here......................

Well, I just got a PM from blownnova with the "private" e-mail from Jason. I did not read it. To be honest, I have NO INTEREST in this type of "he said this, but told me not to tell anyone" juvenile games. If the e-mail was private, then you should not have sent it to me.

Blownnova and Jason, if you have something to say, grow up and post it in this thread. Please do not sent me any more PMs about this issue.

I got the same PM. I advised him to advise Jason to post his side and then ask the mods to shut it down. The deal didn't happen here. There is some cross forum BS going on here. And if what is in the pm is true, all have been made whole. Plus, this has nothing to do with knives.

No need for this to be one-sided.
