Bad experience with Prometheus lights

Why would the Jason be using a medium here? If he had the time to email blownnova, assuming they aren't the same person, about this, he had the time to tell his side here. If it didn't matter enough to him to post here and at least try to clear this up and mitigate the damage then that really speaks volumes.

On a side note: If his outlook on how he handles customers who report an issue with high end products is reflected in what knife117 in post #5, then it sounds like he should start looking for a new line of work, because this one isn't going to work out for him for very long with that attitude. I'm a firm believer in both parties being professional and civil, but I would also be very unsatisfied if I were in knife117's situation. A replacement on a $300 item being in worse shape than the original item just screams "I could care less about you as a customer".

There is always two sides to every story. However, we will never know the other side if Jason does not post. Silence is not a positive for him.....to most it would seem like he is hiding something; or just does not care - much like his comment about customers previously quoted. Neither a positive in my book.

Actually, the thing in post #5 is written on Jason's website on his warranty page. It's his "don't be a jerk clause." Not very professional.

I was simply asking how the return was handled. I am not trying to take sides but get the whole story. You are an unhappy customer and I understand that. However, you now seem to be on a mission to slander his company/reputation for a transaction that you were made whole from save some time lost? That's your own prerogative at this point, potential customers may form their own conclusion to do business with darksucks from here on out. I feel originally you were trying to get a light you felt met your expectations. Then your goal switched to warning potential customers of issues they may run into with this company but it has ventured beyond that now.
This by my count being your 4th thread on the same matter I can start to see why Jason would not want to respond anymore. Perhaps you can tell the rest of us what you would like done to meet your personal satisfaction at this point?

You should look up the definition of slander. I haven't said or posted any untrue statements here.

I got the same PM. I advised him to advise Jason to post his side and then ask the mods to shut it down. The deal didn't happen here. There is some cross forum BS going on here. And if what is in the pm is true, all have been made whole. Plus, this has nothing to do with knives.

No need for this to be one-sided.

I wonder why I didn't get that PM. 😐

I know the definition of slander knife117 and I would like to apologize to you, the other forum members, and all other parties involved. I started forming my own ideas and that was very ignorant of me. In my mind my intentions were good but I ended up insulting several forum members I had no business insulting, again, I am truly sorry.

This forum is very important to me and there have been a few one sided stories in the feedback forums recently that I guess hit me wrong. I really was trying to get both sides of the story originally and I should have kept out of it completely and left it to the parties directly involved.

I assure everyone that I am not affiliated with Jason or his company, I have ordered Mcgizmo switches from him in the past and that's the extent of our dealings until now. I forwarded the thread to him last night and suggested he post his side, again, I should have stayed out of it.

Anyone who wishes feel free to pm or email me and I will apologize personally. I have met many fabulous people here on the forums and it is never my intention to hurt anyone here, especially when it is not my business to stick my nose in.

If the light maker knows this is here....it would be smart of him to post his side, imho..........

I have known Jason for many years- we have met in person a few tines.

We had a commercial project which was a great success and Jason performed flawlessly in spite of this being in the middle of the arrival of his first child.

In addition to that I have been a retail customer of his for his custom made one-of-kind higher end lights- My Grail light is an all copper 2 cell that puts out an amazing beam- don't remember the specs- but awesome. I own 6 of his custom lights.

My point here is directed to those who are calling him out to "explain" himself here on BF.

In my opinion this is an absurd request which I am happy to see that Jason has not taken the bait.

Not only was this not a BF transaction but also this really should be between Jason and the OP.

If you like quality lights and want to buy from Jason the go ahead- if you think 300.00 is too much for a light and you are uncomfortable about Jason due to the issues raised in this thread then make up your own mind.

But trying to incite a train wreck is not only bad form but fortunately it looks like this has been resolved.

Finally apparently (I may be wrong) but the communication between the OP and Jason was by email and PM?

I have found out in over 18 years as a knife dealer that picking up the phone and talking a problem through will usually get better results than one dimensional communication like email and PM where the tone and feelings of the phone callers can prove to be very effective.

What about $300 knives? 😃

Haven't and wouldn't ever pay that much for a knife either. As much as I like em, they're tools to me and while I admire and appreciate the talent and labor involved, I just can't see paying that much for a relatively simple tool. A new Skookum Bushtool at $250+ is the most I've ever paid or ever will pay for a knife. Anyway this is way off track and off topic as well, I hope the OP and the seller can settle their differences amicably.

I agree with most of what you have said. Frankly, from what I have seen, the OP is not only in the wrong but might be a bit of a trouble maker. That said, in this community, a simple one post explanation of the situation will go miles. What Blownnova reiterated to me would suffice for most folks to agree that this guy is just trying to assassinate character rather than act like an adult in a business transaction. This transaction did not take place here and has nothing to do with knives, but the slander is here and I feel we are fair enough so I would encourage just one post by Jason; nothing more.

I only think its smart due to this thing called google and many potential customers can see this thread. Bad publicity for a small business is, well bad. If he doesn't care, so be it.

I don't know the man or this customer. My thoughts weren't "bait for a train wreck"....more about himself putting his side up for future customers. I guess things have gotten so bad online nowadays, many assume everyone is bad and out for blood spilling. What a shame........

Again, there is no slander here, only true statements about my experience.

Voicing my experience does not make me in the wrong. There is no other place to write a review on these flashlights, so I'm using forums to let others know.

I could not have expressed it better.

I would have called if there was a contact number on the Prometheus lights website. Just email there.

"Libel" is written words. "Slander" is spoken words...

Whatever you want to call it bud. You are going around posting about your negative experience, cutting and pasting on multiple forums. Doing this after you have been made whole by the maker. What does that say? It says to me trouble. See ya.

Knife117,this is a moot issue now and like others have stated, your situation has been made whole by Jason.ypu have your funds,he has his blemished light. I have dealt with him only on one transaction, outside of the traditional channels in purchasing one "ready made Alpha". His communication was swift and courteous, shipping quick and everything else, including the light, flawless. He has a stellar reputation and his light is perhaps the best out of all the 100+ that I have, custom or stock,(yes, my addictions are beyond salvation)with the best beam I have ever seen.
This certainly seems an isolated incident and I highly doubt it was malicious.
Let it go.
