Bad sale experience. Need imput from forum members.

Reading this thread left me with the following thoughts:

I am also guilty of NOT leaving feedback from some past transactions as I did NOT realize it is the customary thing to do. When I noticed a seller leaving feedback for me as a buyer, I then realized what is customary.

In the correspondence with the seller, the buyer stated more than once that he would NOT "ruin" the sellers perfect feedback rating, THEN had a change of heart because it was suggested good manners be observed??

FWIW, I would NOT do business with the buyer, and the seller is a "stand up guy".

There are or were three solutions to this situation.

The first you received the knife and we're not happy with the condition and return it for refund.

The second you just to keep the knife and accept the condition that it was in.

The third and what I probably would've done his contact the seller say that it wasn't in the condition listed and ask for some type of partial refund. That would seem to be the most easy and fair resolution to both of you.

I see both sides of this. I think that negative feed back could have been avoided. I see where tek is coming from, and I do think worldwood was wrong for leaving feed back for the "person" and not for the "transaction".

I think that since you stepped up and admitted you were wrong and should not have left negative feed back, it does count for something. A lot of people would just try to argue their point to death, regardless of any facts. I think if you request a change of feed back to spark or the mods and everything should be alright. We should all be able to understand how you initially felt receiving a NIB item that wasn't. Since tek does have such a good record we should believe he just did not inspect it properly. No one is perfect, both parties were partly wrong IMO. I think an apology by both parties and a change of feed back will lead to both of your reputations not being hurt.

Good luck, and I am glad to see both parties are being level headed about this matter.

Thank you very much for this understanding post. I feel as if your correct and i will send spark an email to adjust the feedback.

Again i do apologise, i can understand why i was wrong now but i also think people are being a little stiff in their thinking that im the only one who made a mistake.

Tek77, man i apologise for the feedback and hope you can forgive me for leaving it when upset and i will do what i can to get it restored. I really just wish you would see my side of this as well.

Again egally08, thank you for understanding.

The third would of been the way to go but i didnt want him thinking i just wanted a better deal, or i was trying to just get over on him and the cost of shipping it back to him for a re-inspection and then for him to re-ship it back to me would probably cost more than the partial refund.

I emailed spark and asked him to correct the feedback, i also included links to this and the original sale. i feel as if im doing what i can to fix this situation.

I got with spike and the feedback is now gone. I think i have done my part, i apologised and corrected the situation.

I still believe i was not the only person wrong in this, but i was a man about it and had it fixed.

Thank you all for taking your time to read and reply to this thread.

Looks like the negative feedback was removed.

It's reassuring to know the community provides a safety net when someone chooses to throw you off a bridge.

I have a visitor message from you that says otherwise.

You have to finish cleaning up your mess if you honestly want me to accept your apology.

Guy you were wrong too...... I do believe you should speak some words in your error as well......

Nobody erased the feedback for you, i went to spark and asked him to do it myself, and now your still negative towards me...

I personally asked for the feedback to go away and instead of coming in here like a grown up your still having an attitude towards me telling me to clean up my mess..... this is both of our mess take some resposibilty for your actions as well.

once, and only if, you publicly apologise for the attitude and for listing the knife as never used when it was in fact used i will erase the visitor message. I believe thats more than fair, i have done my part. you were wrong too, now all you have to do is be a man and apologise for your errors, nothing more. I have.

Worldwood, Can you post a picture of the edge? I'm curious. Also, sometimes you just have to be assertive. Thanks for the pic.

Get real. if you got a blade that was improperly described you would just say thanks?

He can delete it, that wont be the end of the problem.... now all im asking for is an apology for listing the knife incorrectly... i guess you dont feel he should have to? just like not leaving feedback?

I see what i get for being an adult about this situation.....

He offered you your money back, you refused. He tried to make it right, even admitted he was at fault, you wouldn't let him. Since you chose to accept the knife as is, the worst he should have gotten was neutral feedback. I have a lot ,ore respect for someone who wants to make right a wrong than I do for your antics.

For the record, I made the same mistake recently, missing some damage to the blade. The buyer saw it, and the first thing I did was offer to take it back for a full return. Guess what? We're both happy with how we resolved it, and we left positive feedback for each other. Why? Because the buyer could tell that I'd made an honest mistake, and I wanted to make him happy.

you wanted to make him happy, if the seller wanted to make me happy i would of gotten feedback and none of us would be here now, thanks for your opinion.

I forget to mention, the buyer left feedback first. He did that as soon as he let me know he was happy with our decision, instead of hounding me and holding it hostage. Or course I returned it.

Now MODS, what should i have done? sent it back at my expense?

$5.40 USPS Priority flat rate box. Yes, IMO.

I had a recent similar transaction. Sold a knife that I said was ANIB. I thought it was. I had gotten it in a trade and barely looked at it before I sold it. The new buyer/collector said there were some "marks" on it such that it was not new as described. I told him to send it back for full refund, and I'd pay his shipping expense, or I would give some money to cover the difference in "worth." I offered $50; the buyer suggested $30. I paid him. I think we are both happy.

It was an honest error on my part. Things happen. Just try to make it right when it occurs.

^^^ so it was all about feedback?

For me, feedback isn't everything. There are better tools to profile - search this section, search google, and almost always you know the other end. I don't even actively ask for it. And I have never been turned down a single sale or trade - guess most of us do a similar homework.

If you treat others the way you want to be treated, nobody cares for your fb, is my experience here.
