Hi Bladeforums,

After a couple years as part of this community, I have had the opportunity to meet and interact with a bunch of AWESOME, honest, down to earth folks. I have conducted many transactions (buyer and seller) and was always impressed by the quality of "character" we have around here. I myself, take great pride in selling items and executing flawless transactions with attention to detail, bomb-proof packaging and super fast shipping!!! I am also a big believer in the way this community "self-regulates".

Well, it finally happened, I ran into a world class piece of work - Spydiezz.

These are the indisputable FACTS.

1) I purchased a NIB - Spyderco Military Ti from Spydiezz on 10/16/2011 from this sales thread - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/891210-Spyderco-for-sale!?p=10106726#post10106726

2) Immediate payment made, shipping was quick and proper.

3) Upon receiving the merchandise, I noticed the box was for a Spydero Caly 3 instead of a Military Ti.

4) I immediately and politely informed Spydiezz that the box was incorrect and requested he send me the correct box and I would sent him back his Caly 3 box at my expense. (actual message below)

Please let me know?

Oh jeez I am really sorry about that! I must have accidentally switched them! I have the Ti millie box if you want it I can send it to you. Really sorry about that but njoy the Millie she is super duper sharp from the factory!!

Thanks,

Ben

5) I immediately informed him that I would like the box as it was part of the deal.

6) Never received a response to a couple of tracked PM's.

7) After 1.5 months of no response and not receiving the proper box, I left negative feedback for Spydiezz. REASON - failure to fully complete the sale as promised.

His Response

"Your making a big deal about a box?
That seems like a petty excuse for giving someone a negative review. "

8) Spydiezz, then in his childish act of retribution left me negative feedback???? His reason for the negative feedback, my failure to sent him his box back??

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/itrader_detail.php?ir=63344&u=272738

Spydiezz was the seller and the burden for him to complete the sale properly lay entirely with him. Otherwise, it is crystal clear that he is immature, hot-headed, and does not understand that what is promised MUST BE DELIVERED!!!.

I welcome commentary as this is the kind of stuff that keeps the exchanges running as they should.

Regards,

Ben

Personally, I think there's plenty of better things in this World to worry about than a box. But, since he DID agree to send it back, after you initially contacted him and hasn't done so yet, who am I to tell you that your negative feedback is unwarranted?

I would have done the same thing. It clearly states the box was included in the sale, he said he would send it after his mistake...seems pretty simple to me. He should send the box.

To a collector, all paperwork associated with the purchase of a knife, as well as the box and the condition of the box, can have an direct impact on the value of the knife and can make or break the sale of a knife. The original thread states the knife is "NIB." Since that's what you paid for, it is the seller's responsibility to make good and deliver what was advertized and promised. From the response to your question after the sale the seller seems to admit that he made a mistake and switched boxes on you but then never comes through with the original box. If I were a collector and purchased this knife with intentions of it it being a collected piece only, then I too would have been pissed and would have left negative feedback or asked for a full refund. Had I simply been purchasing the knife as a user and didn't receive the box, it wouldn't have been a big deal to me personally and wouldn't even have mentioned the absence of the box to the seller. Just my opinions.

Thanks for the responses, keep em coming. I am one of those guys that keep the box and associated paperwork for EVERYTHING. If the sale stated the box was not included, I would not have pulled the trigger.

This is not just about a box, this purely about principle. We pay with our hard earned money and should receive what was promised.

Not to mention, I now have bad feedback on my itrader account becuase of this insanity. It should be removed.

I completely agree.

While I agree that if a box is mentioned as part of a deal it must be included to be a complete deal.

What I disagree with is that the box changes the value of this knife. Maybe some rare knives have a different value when they are in the box, NOT all knives are so effected.

But it is not the deal agreed to so negative FB may be appropriate...............

As a collector of various items, I can say that the box is very important in maintaining value over long periods of time. In the cases of razors and old toys, original packaging (including paper tissue wrap) can add another 50% to the value of the item itself.

Does this mean that everything will go up in value because you have the box? No. But because we don't know what will become truly valuable 10-20-50 years from now, it does not hurt to have the original box.

But if you bought that knife to be a "user", then it's no big deal.

I think your actions were appropriate. Not sure what the big deal is about not sending you the correct box unless he doesn't really have it. I agree that not having the box does effect the resale value. Make sure it's sent in a box and not an envelope otherwise you will probably end up with a damaged box after all this aggravation.

You really need better things to do with your life. Besides starting a childish thread hoping to get vengeance. I can't send you something I don't have.

I agree with you 100%
If I buy a knife that is advertised as NIB I want the original box with it. Especially since I am a collector.

It would take the seller just a few Dollars and almost no time to pop the box into a padded envelope and send it. Come on.......send the damn box and move on....

Spydie, thanks for joining the party!! Is that the best that you can do? Childish is giving me negative feedback for your shortcomings and poor service. Truly insane!! How does a buyer receive negative feedback in a situation like this?? Please explain?

I owe you no explanation and you are obviously too immature to realize the value of a box in the real world is about 10 cents. Anyone who starts a thread bashing another person over a box has serious issues. I bought that Millie on the forums and that is the box it came in. Maybe I should start a thread about whoever sold it to me then give them negative feedback!!! Enjoy your knife, and I hope someday you realize getting upset about things like this is pointless :)

Bro, all you had to do when you realized your error was come clean and tell the TRUTH. You lack of response and action is what drove me to this. If you would have done the right thing, there would have been no issue at all. You chose to ignore the situation and hope it went away, it didn't.

This is getting old......

Talk about the problem and how to solve it, Not each other.
Don't keep rehashing the problem, work to solve it.
Knock off the snide remarks and meet each other 1/2 way.

So your mad I didn't contact you saying I wasnt going to send you the box... Which is the exact same thing you did?? In reality both of us screwed up. I said I would send you the correct box- which I didn't because I couldn't find it. You said you'd send the incorrect one back to me... But you didn't. I have no grudge against you, I'm sorry your so upset maybe you should pull the sticker off the box or something? Have a great day

In bravodelta's post, he posted your response...

So... If it's no big deal, then why would you be less than truthful about a "$.10 box"? ...Or are you now being less than truthful about how you never received it in the right box and so you never had the Millie box? Definitely conflicting statements here...

You should have been honest up front in your response and tried to correct the situation instead of waiting until it got to this point.

...So now you can't find the box??? Seriously, man...which is it? You have the box? You don't have the box?? ...Or you have the box but can't find it???:confused:
