If I spent my days knocking down cardboard boxes and got paid really, really well for it; one of those sheepfoots might be in order.

Hmmm our language is the best reflection of our thoughts we have today. I think uber would of done better just posting very plainly and respectfully. Imho.

I did work for a gentleman named John Costigan. He travels the world teaching people on sales. What to say and how to say it. He's more of a big company orientated type, but help me integrate his sales techniques so I work less but get more. He gave me a 5 disc cds that he sells for $50 for free. What he says made sense to me.

If someone has honest pricing and gives people deals AND takes care of the customer after the sale who the hell cares how he chooses to express himself in his sales thread???? Just another example of too much PC. Words are just words.

I'm more concerned about the parents out there allowing children young enough that you are worried about language to peruse a knife website that sells fighting and combat knives??? Seems odd to me. I make beer but I wouldn't allow my 10yr old to peruse beer making sites. Maybe adults shouldn't share their adult hobbies with young children ;) if your kid ain't old enough to buy a knife online perhaps direct them to more age appropriate websites.

Uber you be you and keep treating your customers right.

Haters are gonna hate.

Whatever the intention of the language (if for one dont care, it wasnt directed at me or anyone personally), the funny part is all the posting against it has actually drawn people to this thread. Maybe that was the point though ;).

My god I just checked his site he sells xm18's for $385!!!!

You people leave this guy alone!

How about this buddy

I have a very large knife collection and my kids like knives

If they want go go on a forum and look at the value of knives in the dealers section I approve

This way they know what things cost etc

There is no place for goofy shock sales practices here and if there were the mods would not have said clean it up

I do not care if this guy is giving away knives

Have some class and grow up

Anybody have issue with my comments I'm at the Blade show every year working the DISKIN USA booth stop by and visit and we can discuss why trash mouth BS is not appreciated in the adult world

This is all that should matter about this guy (Taken from the About Us on his store page). If you cant get on board with this... then i feel bad for you.

Why did he not just say that

Seems to be a more prudent marketing campaign

He got the initial effect he desired ....lotsa looks but he also turned off a bunch of well established collectors in the process

He could be the best dealer in the world and I would of loved to have meet him after what you posted but well let's just say first impressions always count

If you are marketing to kids and trash have fun with the first nonsense....... if he wants to market to everyone what you posted would have made sense

Do you think that was positive or negative. Just because people are looking at this thread doesn't give it a positive influence on the company. The primary objective of all companies is to produce revenue. Appeal to all people.

I'm on the fence here. I'm an old warrior and have very few sensitivities, especially over a few cuss words. Really, the guy cussed. Okay. Mildred grab your bible and let's all pray for him? I'm offended? The OP and the readers should probably grow up and get some thicker skin. Grow a pair as I've told my sons a few times growing up.

Was it unprofessional? Undeniably.

Half of you will never, ever buy from him and have stated so. You probably would never have bought from him anyway. The other half that will buy from him are the target audience he was after. He wins. Is it better to have more people selling knives to promote and further our passion, or better to have less? Easy answer.

As far as my kids reading BF, if they're old enough to own and handle a knife, then they're old enough to see a few cuss words. There is far worse on this forum than the "F" word. Not only that, if you think this is the only place that they will be jaded by life, you've fooled yourself. What they don't learn (and discern) from the parents, they will learn from their peers. I trust that most parents are far better teachers. I guarantee you they are completely different away from you, than they are with you, if you're trying to shield them from a few cuss words online. Better to be an involved parent that provides structure and consistent discipline than the be all, end all shield from the real world. You won't be around forever to be that shield.

Spend your money where you wish. Free market capitalism built this nation. Choose to buy from Uber or not.
Take the moral high ground if you wish. Many of us won't buy because of the OP's post and we disagree with his message. The same thing holds true for why many of us WILL buy our next blade from Knivesshipfree after what Derrick did the other day with his knives for kids program.

I still want to see what blade Uber is offering for sale. And I want that 20% off too. :D

Was he out of line at 6:50 this morning for posting a distasteful message? yes but he corrected it by 8:00. Did he get my attention, yes and I have a Winkler folder comming this next week with a 20% discount and he is a Seattle dealer to boot! Now the ball is in his court to provide that customer service that he promises. He got the first part right for sure. Best wishes Martin

Fast professional shipping knife was exactly as pictured at a fair price.

I will certainly purchase from Uber again if the knife I crave shows up in his web store.

Thanks,

Anubisman

We are done here. The language is and was unacceptable in a For Sale environment, period. If it happens again, there will be infractions issued, regardless of membership level. There are some standards that need to be kept, that is one of them. There is no need to resort to "shock value" advertising to get a point across, it's just lame. Also, this is not a discussion thread so that is another reason we are locking this down.
