Balzano Completes His Second Knife...

Well it looks like Balzano somehow posted bail or bond for his "assault with a deadly weapon" arrest because he's back on Instagram now labeling himself as a "knife designer" willing to collaborate with makers. Still making the same hyperbolic claims about his own designs and manufacturing skills. Now Knife Thursday reposted the interview with him the previously had taken down, edited to remove a controversial part of the story. And the cycle continues...

Buyer beware; steer clear of obvious cheaters who will screw you over in a heartbeat.

There's too many solid custom makers out there with established reputations to even bother with guys like Balzano...

While I was researching his past I was able to find the actual charges. I never saw assault with a deadly weapon. I could be wrong and I might have missed something but I didn't see that charge. I did see felon in possession of a weapon as the charge for his latest arrest. The closest I could get to finding out what the original felony conviction was for was it was a Rx drug charge.

Obviously the guy has made some real mistakes. Did you find a record of assault with a deadly weapon? I was only able to find nonviolent stuff.

Not sure if this warrants a post but just in case people are thinking of purchasing a knife from him I want to warn them do not by any means send him a PayPal gift payment for a knife. It's probably the same knife 10 other people have already paid for and yet to receive. I've only seen him on IG under Paulo_Balzano but he may be popping up again else where.

Just a heads up, looks like he has made a return only this time on every Facebook group in relation to knives.

Haven't seen much on Facebook (personally), but I've been following his instagram since Knife Thursday re-aired the interview (minus some controversial "section" that put another maker in a bad light?).

His instagram seems to be getting updated fairly regularly with new designs, and what appear to be finished pieces. I think I saw where he took a handful of orders as well, though I can't say for sure what became of them, or really anything beyond the occasional pic on instagram.

It DOES appear that he's gotten a little farther than last time though. Hopefully he can maintain the momentum this time.

A friend asked me about this guy a do checked his page. Now he is claiming to be helping big time makers with their designs a show to make knives. He made a post about some super secret jimping that he can't share the technique.... It is maybe something you learn how to do in Jr. High wood shop... I did a search and told my buddy to stay clear of this guy. Just watched a couple of his post and he's so proud to be doing the most basic of knife fabrication, most of it is not even the correct way to actually make a knife. He's doing the auction bs and anyone that doesn't know how to google this guy deserves to get ripped off. Getting very tired of these scam makers on IG.

I was prepared to leave this thread as it stands but since it has been bumped I would like to add an update.

I have spoken with Paulo pretty extensively over the past several months after I was encouraged to do so by another person. Clearly several people involved have their own sides to the story but at the end of the day, everyone I know of has been made whole by Paulo. I only know of one person who did not either get their money back or get a knife from him and that person specifically told Paulo to keep the money because he clearly needed it more than the buyer did.

Since then, Paulo has opened up about the people he is working with and has made a pretty conscious effort to ensure he isn't taking money for anything that isn't already complete. He has been contrite and he knows the vast majority is watching his every move to keep him on the straight and narrow.

He's not the first maker to have these issues and he won't be the last.

As the originator of the thread, I thought it might mean something to let people know that even I have been willing to give him another chance.

Wow, so Paulo kept this guys money just because the buyer was frustrated and obviously had issues with Paulo? That is BS on Paulo. Paulo should have made it right regardless of what the buyer said.

POS

It's a bit more complicated than that. The guy flat out refused the knife or the refund. I believe it was his way of making a point.

I still wouldn't deal with him regardless of his "change of heart". :grumpy::thumbdn:

The only reason he is being honest now is because he knows he's being watched?... Oh, the integrity.

Lamest of the lame IMHO.

Add em' to the list:

Will Moon
Andre Devilliers
Paulo Balzano

I'd be very interested in knowing what he has told you concerning money we gave him three years ago now. This wasn't a small amount of cash either. "Patiently" waiting for 3 years has only yielded empty promises and the usual lies from Paul. He may have taken care of some, but his earliest supporter of money, time and advice still sits empty handed.

WOW!

This, coming from Blade HQ, speaks volumes!

I had no idea you guys had backed him early on or that he owed you money/knives for 3 years.

The more you know Dr. Scurvy. That's ridiculous though. I followed Balzano on IG just to see what he was up to after the entirety of his debacle and if he had indeed 'turned over a new leaf' but Blade HQ resurfacing and voicing that he owes them outstanding debts after his new 'good guy image' is ludicrous. Something you can't simply sweep under the rug.

BTW, they seem to have pulled it down but long ago BladeHQ did at one point have a 'sold' product page for one of his knives.

Thank you for coming forward, now I know why I trust and always buy from Blade HQ. I also know of at least another individual he owes a folder to.
