Fine idea for a thread!

I've always prefered a Barehead over an end-capped (unless of course when considering EE or Stockman type patterns:D ) I think they look much better without the cap, and when you have fine bone, stag or wood, why dock the end bit and put on a bolster?? Spoils the lines in my view.

Here's a GEC 56 Dogleg, great pattern but overlloked.

Not strictly speaking a Jack as it's a single-blade but it's Ebony and a right tough.....:eek::D

The Schatt Heritage in Ebony. Has a really suitable shield, the Spear version has much better handle:blade ratio but that one is Rosewood/Coco

Er, this is not actually Ebony..but it's very black Blackwood

Thanks Gev! You have some beauties there yourself!! Is that an NYK swayback?

Here's one more before I retire for the night; my fave!
I like to think it was the first Camillus ever made!! (Maybe I have already retired to dreamland!!:D)Ha ha!!

It's old, and nearly 4 1/4" long. Hardly used, it has been quietly gathering patina for maybe 100-110 years!

I took this one off my Camillus display and handed it to Duncan while he was here! He was lost for words!;)

What an incredible knife Charlie! Those blades, that shield, and of course the Ebony are just fantastic!

Thanks, Macchina!

I agree with you Will. Great Eureka!

Is that only for slipjoints or does it also apply to lockback knives like the GEC Model 83?

Good point. I'd say yes there are Barehead Lockbacks, because there are. Same with certain liner-locks e.g. GEC 73. Traditionals only mind!;):D

Charlie, always love that Camillus, great old knife.

I've got this old Challenge Cut Co,

Underproduced, but not overlooked. The #55 and 56 are the patterns I would most like to see produced soon. I love the look of my #18 Coyotes and Beagles which are pretty much just a peanut sized versions of a 56.

My first ebony knife.

Man, what a flood of righteous cutlery!!

The Platonic Ideal of Pocket Knife; Platonic-est as ~P might say!!

Hey R8shell.....awesome thread! one that slots into Traditonals SO SO WELL!

Charlie- that Camillus is just amazing - theres not too many knives around of that caliber - and you know what....Im kinda glad ( in a way) - because holding a knife like this is an experience, and if we all had them.....?

Mind you we have.... again in a way, because someone like me in a hundred years is going to be holding a ppp 2012 TC...... and they will be feeling EXACTLY how I did back there Charlie.
As Charlie pointed out to me - now how often do you see Camillus Stamping like that eh? Whew!...That is something else!

Heres a nice oldie, a gift from a good forum friend here, I sharpened this ol Girl up to razor Sharp a while after taking the photo's and started rotating this in my edc.
A good carry in my jacket..

Boker... ( no longer with me )
