I have special feelings for the Bravo1. It was my first Barkie, my first higher end knife, and the first blade I bought off the exchange. I have owned 3 of them. It is one of my favorite blades ever made. So when I heard about the gunny, the little bro in the Bravo series, I was thrilled! A Smaller Bravo, full tang wih a thinner blade??? Sounds lik a winner to me!

I ordered one when they came out, and recieved it promptly from KSF. When I got it, I immeadiatly fell in love. Its not that much smaller then the Bravo1, just slightly scaled back. The handle fits like a glove, its a little handle heavy due to the full tang, but in a way that is totally managable. The A2 is screamin sharp, and the sharpshooter leather is as usual, very nice. It locks the knife in a way that reminds me of kydex. I chose black g10 for mine, but there are alot, I mean ALOT of vey cool handles available for this model.

I love the leather, but also wanted kydex. PM to Eastr77 took care of that. He makes one hell of a kydex sheath. The fit is perfect. Not too tight, not too loose. Drain holes on both sides, and mounting options for a tec lock, neck carry, or IWB!! In the kydex it slips into my pocket, and dissapears. Slim, light, and ready at a moments notice. Its not too heavy for neck carry either. I wore it under my jersey on weds when I rode 22 miles at a new series of mountain bike trails that were built near by. It went unnoticed the entire ride. Very cool. Thanks Eastr, you the man.

Now on to the review!!!

the blade has been used alot since I got it. So much that now the logos on the blade are barely visable!

Eastrs Kydex is perfection.

The edges are seamless. Melted together, and finished very well.

This to me is the perfect size for my ideal survival/bushcraft knife.

If you guys are in the market for a great woods blade, in a great size, I say go Gunny!!! Its easily my favorite barkie, and maybe even my favorite knife ever!!!!

cool knife, and very informative review  the handle is a little thin for my taste, but all-in-all, it looks awsome.

Thanks buddy...another one I cant live without.:D

Great review. The size and thickness look much more useful than the B1. I bet that knife will see lots of use.

Great review - I've yet to buy a Barkie but am seriously thinking of adding one to my collection.

Very nice photos...forgive my ignorance but is this a convex grind?

I'd really like to own a BRKT one day and I think that the hardest part is going to be choosing one of the (seemingly) hundreds of varieties out there.

glad the sheath works the way you needed it to . your giveing your gunny a great workout thanks for posting the pics of the gunny going though some of it's paces.

Great review buddy !

Hearing that the blade cuts 50% better than the standard Bravo 1 is very interesting, I always thought that the origional was a little too thick, your tests confirm this !

Nice review:thumbup: I have a Gunny and I like it although it has not edged out my Bravo-1 as top dog yet. I agree that Eastr77 makes a very sweet kydex sheath. I was a lucky recipient recently, it's everything you say it is. Regarding the thumb ramp, I'm not sure it's even useful on this model. I can't rule out grinding it off eventually.

Dimension wise it seems to share much with the falkniven F1 - except in tool steel. Nice review, they do look handy.

Great review Jake:thumbup:

Notice I haven't bet you that you would sell that knife.... I figured that would be a winner for you;)

I can hardly wait till I get mine....

nice review and pics Jake... i love the Bravo-1.. i think it's a great all around field blade, though it is a tad on the big side for what i prefer to carry in the woods...i do have a feeling that i will like the gunny more than the Bravo-1..

Nice review. I've never handled a knife with a thumb ramp, but these seem very popular.

With all the hub-bub surrounding the Gunny, it's almost enough to make one wonder if the Bravo-1 is obsolete.

no way the B1 is still a rocker the skinny aint for everyone i personal like the thicker blades aside from the fact they don't slice as well. but most of the time in the woods im not peeling tomatos tamato's how ever you say or spell it:D
