Bark River knives?

It will be tough to discern without using the blade. If you get a stainless steel like 20cv and it rusts immediately it is NOT 20cv. If you get a carbon steel though this will be more difficult to detect if you've been gotten over on. Good luck.

I have not seen anything about it turning out to be another steel in brkt knives.

I know you seem set on a Bark River, but there's always companies like Battle Horse Knives and LT Wright that can set up up with a similar knife for a similar price with similar materials and none of the hesitation or uncertainty.

The L.T WK GNS 3V looks very sexy. Thanks a ton for the added options.

How is the international shipping for knivesshipfree?

That's a good question that I don't happen to know the answer to as I live in the USA. LT Wright does sell at other BF authorized retailers like DLT Trading and The Knife Connection, if their shipping is better.

Very expensive unfortunately. Ridiculously so. I wish they would just say 'we don't want the bother of shipping internationally' rather than trying to pretend that it costs $70 to ship a GEC internationally. I find it dishonest.

Isn't this the fault of all those involved in the stolen and 'lost' transactions, and not KSF? Just speculating, not sure.

Considering the vague thread title, this is fitting...

So just stop doing it rather than trying to make everyone else pay for it. Trying to make your real customers become your insurance for a few bad ones.

Didn't mean to imply any customers at all. The international stolen and 'lost' packages happen at customs, not at the end of the line. I take it you're overseas, Pomsbz?

PS Why didn't you like my pic? :p;)

Do I have to repeat myself? Maybe so. Look, to you guys who have only been here a little while, like the last couple years or maybe even less:
This is a dead horse that has been beaten so long that water is starting to collect in the hole we've dug. Want to know why Shiney has so many responses? Its scripted, he could write that stuff in his sleep! Some of us are tired of the arguing. Look either it matters to you or it doesn't, but trying to win the snark battle on stuff like this just doesn't work. You are not going to change minds, you are not going to convince someone who's been here for 5 years to change, unless you show up with some proof that something has changed in regards to the subject at hand. When I joined the forums things were a lot different, You might even say Mike was a bit of a golden boy. A small maker producing knife lovers blades! But over time there has been a buildup of bad blood, but worse, unanswered questions. I'm sure he has a lot of great qualities, but the bridge has been burned and the river is long dry. I'm not going to name names because either you are self aware enough to know who I'm talking to, or it won't matter. Take the advice as given, buy the knife you want, and ignore the comments you don't like. But be aware that there are topics here that will get reactions.

Why bother bringing this up? Because I feel like its a bit my responsibility to pass along some of the guidance provided me when I joined ten years ago. I'm not saying being here that long makes me better or smarter, but back then there were others who showed patience, shot down trolls who tried to mess with me and tried to help me be a better part of the community. There is plenty of blame to throw around, some of the comments from all sides were uncalled for, but keep in mind, this topic comes up at least every six months and its hard sometimes not to chuck some venom when it feels like you are arguing with the same person, even if you are not.

I am indeed. Oh and re the pic, just got it. :D

Now that I went back and glanced (more than deserved) through the previous pages, it's true: This automatically turned into a M. Stewart bash thread, which has been done a thousand times already as pointed out. Certainly doesn't help Mykke out either.

What is the best brkt knife?

I'm think i'll be buying the Aurora LT cpm3V but i'd like to know if one of the other brkt knives is better in your opinion. The Aurora seems like the best all rounder.

And is there a difference performance wise with a 3.75mm and a 4.25mm blade thickness.
I use knives that are thinner than both of the brkt aurora models, but is their a good reason to get the thicker one? I'd think that a 3.75mm blade should be good enough from batoning and is probs better for slicing. Am i wrong?

There is no best BRKT knife - there is no best knife. I agree with your logic regarding the thinner blade stock; better slicing and more than enough beef at 3.75mm to baton. I just grabbed a .110" thick blade that's 17.5" long...I intend for it to be one hell of a de-limber/brush hog around the property. It certainly won't be seeing chopping and batoning tasks while I own it, but 'thin is in'.

Like many BRKT models, the Aurora is a popular one. I have two Bravo 1.25 and would probably only trade them out for the newer Bravo 1.25 LT.

Mykke and Pombsz, if you put your location into your profiles it helps others give you local advice. I know the exchanges are not great outside of CONUS, but its worth looking. Shipping and ex-rates suck, but depending on where you are you can sometimes find what you are looking for locally, and in the case of many of the knives mentioned, used is not that big a deal. But don't start thinking that because you can get 10$ shipping that everyone should. KSF is a pretty small op, and mail fraud is pretty common on the customer end, since its pretty much impossible to investigate. So if that's what their insurance costs, so be it. You can always go somewhere else.

Phixt, it did not turn into a bash thread without help. We have a likely returning troll to thank for that, and no, it didn't help Mykke, but then again, maybe it did. But thanks for bring back the topic at hand.

Mykke, I personally have found that thinner is better. Less weight to carry, less cutting friction, and while you might have to think a little more, you can learn to read the wood you are cutting and not just power through everything with brute force. But lazy is just a derogatory synonym for efficient!
