Oh, my, I LIKE those, Brumby; congrats! :thumbup::thumbup:
Who are the manufacturers? Is the sheepsfoot a Colonial? Does the bolster on the clip blade Barlow say Mark Twain?
Very cool! :cool::cool:

Thanks 5K...... Correct on both counts:thumbup: The Sheepsfoot is a "Colonial USA" and the Mark Twain is by Imperial Prov R.I USA

Thanks for the info, Brumby. I enjoy running into those old "shell knives". Wish I could find more of them.

Case redbone beauty at the end of the day:

That is a beauty Sarah, the Case bone has a real depth and glow to it. Couple of my Case's in bone.

Thanks, Augie!

Having this knife in hand, I understand all the better why Case's redbone is so highly esteemed.

I've not yet seen Case's Appaloosa bone in person, but from everyone's photographs-- including yours, above-- it is fine, fine stuff.

I see that the pen blade on both your pictured knives is behind the main, as I've seen on Case's newer barlows.

Does anyone know if there is a point in time when Case dropped the pen-in-front blade configuration on barlows altogether? Or are there examples of each throughout Case's production history?

(I prefer a pen-behind configuration for use, but "nestled nicks" does it for me visually-- so I'm happy either way. :))

There appears to be a lot of use remaining in that knife, Rochauler!
I'd sharpen it and use it up!

Thanks Waynorth. I thought about it long and hard while I carried it around for a couple of days. I'm really wanting to restart it's useful life, and maybe after my son gets over his tactile knife fetish (which we've all had at sometime in our lives I'm sure) it's my hope he'll find the love of slip joints. And now that I've seen pertinux's redbone case, I'm even more convinced to get it repaired. That thing is beautiful.

I almost went for the Snakewood, but, I figured that I don't need to get into collecting small Barlows. :o I like yours a lot, though ! :thumbup::) The threaded bolsters and blade stamp are nice touches, as is the snakewood. :) Don't understand why the fourth pin is needed on the covers.

Primble I'm afraid I am of the same mind with you on these. Don't need to start down the small Barlow road. To many lanes in my collecting highway activities already:). Love the Snakewood though and Philllll that is a real beauty and wonderful photograph! Lloyd

Some of my favorite Barlows were made over a half century ago. I still marvel at the opportunity the internet gives us to find these gems!

Just beautiful and well photographed Al! Just a real excellent visual reference that I know I will visit often and enjoy. I know you have a lot more of these vintage Barlows so anytime you want to photograph them I am ALL EYES! Thanks and much appreciated, Lloyd
