Major_Works There are many older Case Barlows to be had for not too much on the auction sites. I have picked up 2 that way, an SS Apalousa Bone and a CV Sawn Bone.

Nonetheless, I sharpened the chip out of the edge, bringing it back to shaving sharp, and deemed worthy of carrying. My wife offered to paint where the plastic used to be, since I'm going to carry it. If someone can give me a reason not to, I'll tell her no. Otherwise, it's going to get some white paint put on it and use it often.

This is what it actually was...

I see no reason not to paint it, except that the paint might rub off rather quickly in your pocket. I would look around for some sort of adhesive backed vinyl. I think you can get it in craft stores in all kinds of colors. Maybe change out the colors for different holidays.

That's what I would do. :D

Here's one I altered...more like rebuilt. It started life as a Colonial Barlow that came to me with a broken tab on one of the scales and a crack on the opposite side. After a few days of thinking, I gathered everything together and began my first full rebuild of folding blade. I still have some finish work to do, but here's what I have so far...green jigged bone scales, black micarta spacers, solid brass bolsters, brass liners and brass pins. It's heavy and strong, making a better frame for the blades.

I know you mentioned only one blade... you could also consider a Victorinox Cadet. Its very slim, only has one blade but the extra tools are quite useful. Could also consider a Cadet Bantam, one blade and one cap lifter. Both can be had for around $30.

That a good looking rebuild.

This old Simmons Hdw Co. barlow has nice, crack-free bone handles but came to me with a badly worn and mistreated sheepsfoot blade. Some time on a grinding stone produced a passable Wharncliffe and it has become a nice little edc user.

I've posted these separately, but what the heck, here they are again for the "Share you Barlows here" section.

Great collection. Love the scales on that long pull TC spear. I think a lone shot of that number would be in order. MJ.

I am soo jealous right now, a TC barlow is my absolute favorite knife but i dont own one because i just simply can not find them anywhere on the internet.
I've seen a couple for sale on Ebay but the seller doesn't ship to where i live (The netherlands) i wish i had one i might be able to buy it from someone on bf in the future one day.
(And the worse thing is that i just missed the bf barlow this year....
