Although I completely agree that we are never going to know what the original knife looked like I also think that the Forest knife is a viable contender. It certainly looks like the description and at least has a more reasonable provenance than some of the candidates.
As to who bought it... To me that proves nothing. I mean that abomination the so called Musso bowie is proudly on display at the Alamo. A well regarded bowie aficionado wrote a two part article for Blade magazine to tell us the so called sea of mud bowie was really the one Bowie carried at the Alamo tenuous suppositions used as provenance be damned. So it goes. You pays your money and you takes your chance....
