No choil for me I think it looks better. The " choking up for fine work" doesn't fly with me. It's 10 inch blade for crying out loud it's made for chopping. And I'll bet everyone here own's enough smaller knives to outfit several Boyscout troops so it's not like you won't have a smaller blade with you. A good portion of these knives are going to sit in safes anyway so it just comes down to which looks better to the buyer. Choices are good! Can't wait to hold this beauty in my
hand.
 
Agreed that a choil has no place on any knife that is absurdly big for small work (especially one used for bushwhacking where it could hang up), but I forgot to mention another reason I prefer it on smaller knives: it gives me greater leverage over the blade tip--where the protrusion under my index finger acts as a lever arm.
