Battle Saw or ASHBM

It's killing me that no one is buying that Chop House Thick Cut on the exchange --- that knife is right up there with the B11 for me --- it's really really amazing . . . Tall blade profiles on res-c --- that's truly special

Great videos by the way man --- I've watched them all several times . . . Bloody awesome --- TREE BLOOD!!!

Thanks, maybe with enough practice I will have better videos. I plan on getting something better than my phone to video with someday, and perhaps a more expierenced cameraman lol.

Thanks for watching, you can see for sure that the teeth will eat up a baton but those are easy to make. The tip is plenty strong I have beat on it pretty hard, and the edge I recieved has not been sharpened yet (still factory), probably the best edge on any Busse/Kin I have recieved.

I think most people picked up the BB13 and now are just waiting for those monsters.

Amen Dan, I am waiting on a CG 13asic I am guessing I will like it as a chopper more than the BS. IMHO the BS will still have more class though, Res-C just doesn't have the formal appeal like G10 or Canvas.

I am waiting on the WTF, but I personally think the ASHBM or Battle Saw are more than adequate for the Majority of Chopping Tasks-If the Basic 13 would have been offered Naked, I would have been all over it-Cheers

I agree I just couldn't afford the CS WTF so much satin goodness. I have both the ASHBM and the BS but unfortunately I can't make a good comparison since I haven't beat my ASHBM yet even though I've had it the longest.

The ASHBM is a BEAST-Trust me you will not be Disappointed-Cheers

The ashbm vs bs performance depends on which batch your saw is from. There is at least one batch of saws with the thinnest factory edge I have seen on a cg mistress sized blade, and they smoked my ashbm in performance. Now, my other fatter edged saws do not perform nearly as well and were whooped by the same ashbm. The cbt's are different between the two thin/thick edged saws as well. ;)

CG ASHBM I stripped & convexed... then sold.

Thick edged Battle Saw, stripped with factory edge, decarb not yet removed. The thin ones have about half to a third of this size V-grind, even after convexing them.

Thin edge saw I stripped & convexed recently.

Excellent point Tim --- geometry is almost everything --- hopeful the Geometry of the one coming for me is thinner --- either way --- awesome blade

Great shots and great job stripping by the way . . . You strip great, but don't expect me to throw dollar bills at you

Interesting. My Battle Saws must all be the thin-edged variety then, because they are pretty thin! I assumed they were all like this; I didn't realize that there were some out there with thicker edges.

Pretty normal to have different edges. see it all the time

Yeah, that is true, these were just the largest variance I have seen so far in my years as a piglet.

I too have a thin edge BS, damn thing is still wicked sharp even after all the beatings.

I have used my ASHBM for months, mine is also still very sharp, I have tried to not like the ASHBM because of the Straight Handles, but the damn thing just works, time will tell if we see a 20th Anniversary Battle Saw, I do not think you can go wrong with either-Cheers!!!

well they are both descendants of the original so you cannot go wrong.

Here is a Amazon Indian using one of Ron Hoods originals

Very cool, the SHBM has been around a long time with a proven track record-Thanks for sharing

I wish they would do another run of the original SHBM specs. Basically the same performance but much handier and lighter. The battle saw performs like no other in it's weight / size class, even better than customs I have!! Something about the blade length, width, CBT, and the thin tall edge. The handle is so comfortable for me too, even more comfortable than a res C handle!

I had no idea it was this nice ---it weighs in at a perfect 26.40 oz --- big thanks to Ron for this and the sheath -- truly a masterpiece--- the guys and gals at the shop really really hit it out of the park with this one

Oh and I spent many hours yesterday just holding this new piece and building muscle memory to effectively handle it --- Jerry was right about how amazing this feels in hand. I'm definitely keeping this one too . . .
