I originally got the pistol because it was the cheapest one on the shelf....:foot:

So I went back and found a rifle that was the cheapest on the shelf...shot it twice and promptly returned it (Daisy POJ). Decided to get the Crosman because of the faster speed rating.

And I have had the darnedest time trying to sight this thing in. We're talking hours of shooting, hundreds of BBs. Will not shoot the same place twice even at 10 feet away.

So now, I'm thinking of getting the pistol. Yes, I'm a cheapskate...but I just can't justify plunking down $100+ for a BB gun...even a good one. I liked the Daisy because it was easy to shoot and decently accurate. I'd love to get one more accurate (but at a moderate price).

Just seem to have had a bad run of luck with BB guns I guess...

Crossman 760 Wow, I can't believe they are still making those..I had one thirty-seven (yikes) years ago and it was made of wood.. It was top of the line then and cost about 25 bucks...

Ok, guys...I pulled the trigger and ordered a custom 2240.

Now I need a scope. :D

Would something like this one work? (on ebay - already ended)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7247846987

Says it has 10-24" of eye relief...and is a pistol scope, not a rifle scope.

I can't afford luepold, etc....gotta go "second best" or none at all on this one.

Anybody have something similar to this? or experience with it?

Update:

The Daisy 880s has been flaky at best...scope sucks big-time.

So, I decided to upgrade to the 1000S while waiting for the Crosman 2240 custom to get finished.

.177 ammo, 1000 fps, break-barrel action
comes with the scope (very nice 3x-9x)

Brought it home, loaded it up and pulled the trigger.

CRACK!!!!

No way I can shoot this thing in my backyard...I have fairly liberal neighbors...but this sounds like a .22 rifle.

So, back to the store...where I picked up this one instead:

CRAM77_1.jpg

Crosman Airmaster 77 Remington Air Rifle, .177 BB/Pellet, 755 fps, Black Synthetic Rifle Kit w/4x20 Scope

About the same loudness as the Daisy 880s I had before...but the biggest difference for me was the accuracy. Within 10 minutes I had it hitting dead-on at 20 yds. And it's been very consistent since. It's also quite a bit easier to load - moreso than any of the others, excepting the 1000s (break-barrel...just drop it in...so easy...)

I'm quite pleased with it. Of course, who knows....I also bought some better pellets...could be that too. :D

But it's nice to finally be able to make 1" groups at 20 yds. consistently. Something I thought I'd have to break the bank to get.

Dan, check out he Benjamin/Sheridan line of pump ups. Wood stocks and better fit and finish than the Daisy or Crossman offerings. You only pump up to 8 times, but the fps is as great or greater than most of the Daisy or Crossman offerings. Not the big crack of the breakopen kind either. My brother in law has one and it rocks. Last I looked they went for around $100.00.
