Wondering where all my Buck Collectors Club members are? Any on here? Im over there at least once a day but i hate to say its rather dead over there. I know this is the hopping forum and i love it here but any here wanna help me pick up the action a bit over there i would love to see it a buzz with something that resembles a heartbeat? Once a day is all i ask.

I know thats why i wrote this. Such good talk and info here i dont know why we cant get some of us to visit bcci a little more often. I know we mainly do that for the great club discount ( not why i joined as i thought it was like 10% lol) but that club site could be a great place for all us buck lovers. Dont get me wrong this is my main forum... always faithful here!

Well there is the BCCI facebook page a lot more activity there and several more Buck sites on facebook.

Hi DN,

It's almost your 1 year anniversary here on the Buck BF site! I am also a BCCI life member and am on both the BCCI FB, and Club site. Sorry to say but most of the Club members just don't do the computer thing and the ten or so folks who do talk on those sites are sporadic at best. This site is by far better so here I am and here I will stay (I will still visit the other sites and comment every now and then).

The Buck forum has fantastic folks who are like a family and love their knives with the Buck tattoo, like I do. Visit us here often and engage with us, and you are already part of our family my Brother of the Buck Knife and all of the other fellow Buck Nuts!!!!

Yep, have to agree for sure.
As you can tell by my number, I'm one of the newer members of BCCI.
The following is my 2 cents worth.
I'm not too sure what I expected when I applied to join but I kinda was expecting more activity with the posting of pics of newly found treasures.
But, I would imagine that those finds come along pretty infrequently - at least they do for me, anyway.
Also, I've found it difficult to qualify for the "club" discount from Buck.
Anyway, my enthusiasm for BCCI has dwindled to the point where I check it out only every once in a while instead of on a regular basis.
If a newbie such as myself feels frustrated, I can only imagine how members who have been around longer (and those with "administrative" responsibilities) must feel.
Not sure where the answer lies to garner more enthusiasm. A "Buck Lover's GAW - sponsored by BCCI" with donations from present members, or Buck, gratefully accepted?
Anyone have any ideas on how to increase activity on the club site?

It really is a family. Not sure other knife brands have this same affect.
All i was suggesting is all us BCCI Buck Nuts
Go once a day to the site and if you can answer a question or insert an opinion or two we could get it moving because the sails are flat for sure.

Nice to meet you oldguy. Thanks for your input. I liken it to playing chess over the phone. Or by mail. No rush not i like here where its almost like live chat.
I pop on and if i can contribute i do.
In fact i need to check in over there now.
Like taking a vitamin. Just do it once a day.

Bert hit the nail on the head. David I receive email notices when you post on BCCI, so you are getting out to at least one person. Here, the forum is part of a larger animal and draws in more people. For me I was a forum and BCCI person and was asked to take the moderator spot. I have stumbled through some wild times and continue to show 300 series photos when warranted.
I don't do any facebook so am not involved in BCCI FB site. Like Bert and David Martin I have written a few 300 series articles for the BCCI newsletter. But, have had writers block for a while. I would encourage anyone who feels they can write something to give it a try. Talk about why you joined the club and why you like Buck knives, even which one you bought first. You submit these to the BCCI websit. If anyone has a couple of knives and wants to build a collection write a story, take a picture and talk about getting started. Even a interesting story on how you found a special knife will do. Or how your Buck made a difference in a tight spot will work. But, I always let BCCI put my writing in the newsletter first before sticking it in a thread on the forum. If they don't want it for a newsletter feel free to post it here everyone will welcome it.
Also one thing that takes some effort is attending BCCI group knife shows or creating a one man exhibit such as David Martins (he does more than raise chickens). You can be surprised by how many people look at your knives and how many contacts you make. Since retiring I have attended the National Blade Show in Atlanta for several years (even in the Chuck, CJ and Joe days), several Buck interested folks who came by to hang out a while ended up creating a display and now get prime table space for even small displays. It takes me two days going and one long day coming home to go to Atlanta. A local knife show will also be good display deal and you can buy and sell at those shows. You can ask for help from BCCI to figure out what you might do. I highly recommend doing that.
I realize many people have jobs and are on limited budgets. In my part of the country shows that allow club displays are nil. The few that are within my decent driving distance want to charge you for the table space. David Martin pays for his table. Most shows where BCCI makes a big showing are on the coasts. Read some schedules in BCCI newsletter, see how Buck collectors show their knives (usually in a protective case of some sort) and give it a shot. You will make friends even if you just show up where BCCI is raising its banner and bend some ears. Feel welcome to hang out and ask questions and look at the rare Bucks. I went to David's show once and his fan club welcomed me like a lost brother. BS is always welcome, just ask 110Dave...Bucksway is the quiet brother....I have trouble with the club discount on the Buck Website also so don't feel like the lone Ranger.

I also get an email when you post. I also use the site for the catalogs and model histories, newsletters. Also the members only store...

Guess i'm old fashioned and just call Buck directly and order my knives. I like talking to the great sales and customer service people their. They always brighten my day.

David, I'm Life member #1119 and drift over to the club site once a month but there is more chats and questions over here. Feel free to ask questions and take part. There are decent folks here who are very knowledgeable about Buck knives and will help you with information. Enjoy your visits here. DM

I'm a twenty-something-year BCCI life member, and I've posted a few times on the BCCI website. For some reason things get oddly contentious over there, far more frequently than you'd expect with the BCCI forum's post count. I think the main factor is that it's a small, very focused group of people. It seems that if you're not a frequent poster you've got to establish your bona fides every time you post.

Before anyone gets all horked off, please accept that this has been my experience over there, I'm sure I'm in the minority.

This forum is much more relaxed, and with a few obvious exceptions, things stay friendly, and posts are appreciated. I do wish that folks here were a little more tolerant of reasonable and thoughtful criticism of Buck. My first love is Buck knives, I own a lot of Buck knives. I've had some troubles with their knives, and one really memorable bad experience with Buck warranty repair. It's inevitable that an occasional problem arises, they churn out thousands of knives a year. But, I continue to buy, trade, and generally beat the Buck drum.

As for Facebook, forget it.

Thanks for your reply.
Atm all you see at BCCI is my name for the most part. I have posted on several threads there and with no activity my name sticks out like a sore thumb

I joined the bcci a year or two ago and use the archives on occasion, it's the best part that I can see. I don't post here much but I read the posts dailey. I have learned a lot from this forum and it's member's. I had no idea this forum existed (found it on accident ) and that lead me to the bcci. Thanks to everyone here.
