i second that and vote for damascus blades or bolsters or both
I'm not a real fan of damascas steel. I'd love to see a set with some really original scales; perhaps with some type of exotic wood or horn and nickel silver scales.

If I recall, on the order form for the 112 in the BCCI Newsletter it was stated that multiple orders would be honored AFTER single orders were filled.

It seems it is just plain luck of the draw as to whether you get a nice knife or one less than you would hope for.

Unfortunately, mine was sent back due to excessive side to side blade play. Hopefully I will be happy when it comes back!

Not so. On line 3 it says "Only 175 produced - first come first served".

I copied the order form before sending the original in. Would you like me to post it?

At the bottom, it also says - "In addition, I would like to place an order for ____ additional 112 folding ranger drop point knives. I understand that this order is subject to availability. I agree to pay the club for any additional 112 models upon receipt of them."

I agree Peter. It's just the fickle finger of fate at work. I'm hoping mine comes back in great shape as well. I still have a lot of condfidence in Buck to make it right.

I'm not sure how else you could interpret it. Why else would they have you pay for only one knife and have you promise to pay for additional knives if they are available? The whole idea as I saw it was they would sell single knives first and after that if any were left over would be sold to those who indicated they wanted more subject to availability. If it were any other way, they would have had you pay for all up front. Don't you think?

The way I understand it is....BCCI members may order as many knives as they wish up to the deadline.....but will receive only "one" if 175 members prepaid.Any of the 175 "NOT" spoken for are the on the list of more than "one".

Precisely!

On the BCCI 110 orders, the additional knives were sent along with the first knife, on the honor system. The member then sent in a check to pay for the additional knives.

As far as the Club goes, either way works. They still make their investment.

It seems with all of the people that are BCCI members and Buck collectors that a lot more than 175 people would have ordered them.

Anyone know how many members there are in BCCI?

Also, it would seem that if there were only 175 produced the QC could have been a bit tighter?

I just hope the transition Buck has made to Idaho allows the company to continue to be the company it has been, making myself and everyone else that likes their knives continue to do so.

Hi peterinct,

That's a good question, just how many BCCI are there currently? However, not all of the members collect the 112 model and did not order it.....so....how many of us did order and how many of us ordered more than 1?

Every company (well most) have a quality control standard and a little blade movement or some of the other minor issues may just pass the QC AQL (acceptable quality limit). Knife collectors are a tuff sell on even the most minor defects!!!! Therefore, you would expect that the custom knives ordered by the BCCI would get just a little more TCL from the folks at buck. With that said you would think the QC process would catch scale that did not fit the frame or that were not completely glued in place, ECT. However, we all know that not many company's are like Buck. Buck will do whatever it takes to make there customers happy!!!! Not many company's today care about their customers.

Just picked mine up from the PO a few hours ago...not sure what I think about this one. I have a few issues with this one. The stag is not even close to matching, in thickness or pattern and color. It does feel good in the hand with one slab thicker than the other, but not visually. The BOS shows but not the S30V. Anyone else have these issues and what do you think??? Preston
As Herman Munster would say "Darn, darn, darn!!!!".

I can't believe it's already nearing the end of August.
My dad used to tell me that time goes faster as you get older.
Some guy once told me you know you're getting old when you see a cop and say to yourself "hey, that guy looks young to be a cop". The very next week I saw a CHP giving out a revenue slip, I mean "ticket", and had that thought (so you know it wasn't Five-0 Mike ;) )

ANYWAY, Preston, let me know if your horribly defective 112 needs a new home...

Goose.

I started feeling OLD when I noticed the cops were all (or most of them anyway) younger than me! That is definitely true: the older you get the faster time passes. Figure that when you are 5 one year is one fifth of your life. When 50 it is a mere fiftieth!

It does seem that there are more QC issues with the 112 than the 110 based on what i'm seeing on the forum.

Hopefully it will get resolved.

Peter

Hi, Goose. If I didn't give you congrats...I do so now.

Are you being facetious:confused: :grumpy:

As for the knife I just wish it were better and think it should be. Still thinking about sending it in and have Buck do something about it. Been busy the last week and want to look and play with it a bit more. Preston

Nope, was not being facetious (that's a word I have been called but I never spelled before).

I'll take it off your hands. I missed the boat, again :grumpy:

Thanks for the congrats Mr. P.! We were together for going on five years...engaged for a year and a half, broke up for a few months, then she realized what a catch I was (ROTFLMAO!!!)....now, that last statement was being facetious. Reality is that we quit being so stubborn and realized that we had something special. Now I'm getting all poodle eyed...
Gotta go and watch "Beaches"...
Goose.

Yep...I do recall that and admit I have no excuse. I think you were one of them. I simply forgot.
