Bad BE AWARE OF @obrbobr (Tomás)

Personally I think the ‘Bad’ should stay. He lied and filed a PayPal dispute. Sure he manned up after a few days and did the proper thing but I wouldn’t call it a mistake.

Touché.

Although it is discouraged, Paypal's "friends & family" payment can protect the seller in this type of deal. The buyer cannot make a chargeback through PayPal. They can still try to make a PayPal chargeback through their bank; however, it is not like a regular credit card chargeback and is very hard to succeed.
Friends & family also allows the seller to cheat the buyer. And then the buyer has zero recourse to getting their $ back.

Yes, it does. That's why the forum rules state and I quote,
"If buyers use PayPal and pay with "friends & family" and you do not receive what you paid for, do not come crying to the Mod staff on Bladeforums... you're on your own."

However, I am Canadian, and I have purchased a few knives from USA forum members. If the seller had a good rep and was worried about shipping across the border I may agree to Friends & family. The key here is Seller reputation. This forum provides good information on sellers that can add to the trust factor and allow a trade that may not have been possible any other way. The forum is great, and the sellers are top-notch in my opinion.
