... In other, other news, I was asked to bring a THK chef's knife for the turkey carving... and it got claimed.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all!! We had my son and daughter, her boyfriend, my wife's eldest daughter, her husband and two granddaughters (age 10 and 5) at our house. Great food and some tasty mead from Dancing Bee Winery. The favorite was "Merry Texmas", a melomel made with orange blossom honey, cranberries, and oranges.

I used my THK chef's knife for the prep work and it never fails to impress! Thanks again, James!

Spent several hours in the ER getting rehydrated and pumped full of antibiotics. Was running a 103+ degree fever, 140 resting heart rate, tonsils were swollen to the point it was making me vomit, yada yada yada.

You've got to watch out for the yada, yada, yada. It will kill you.

Feel better soon.

Further off topic... I have declared war on ants. Fire, carpenter, and black ants. ALL must die. But only the small area I fenced in.... 40'X40'.... The rest of the 2 acres I will live and let live... But out of nowhere fire ants have surrounded my fire barrel area, and black ants are all under the picnic table...

I have been bitten.... Lots... I refuse to wear regular shoes... Tevas only.... Ants must die... It's war.... Victory or death!

As a long term, small square footage, and warrior, my strategy isn't complete annihilation. It is to make my whole yard just a bit more unpleasant than my neighbors' yards so the ants up and move.

If that escalates into paving the whole yard in concrete, so be it.

quick grits -- dump them near the ant hill, ants feed them to the queen, the grits swell up inside her and she explodes.
another good "clean" remedy is diatomaceous earth (natures ground glass powder) - found at garden supply stores -- kills ants, roaches, etc.... -- pretty much any insect that walks across/through it.

oh, and another person who used his THK kitchen knife for food prep yesterday.

I use both in my garden.

DE is tiny fossilized seashells. Looks like flour to us but it's 'broken glass' to bugs. Most won't cross it. If it gets on them, it cuts them up and they dehydrate. If they eat it, it cuts them up inside.

DE trivia: It is the scrubbing agent in toothpaste to remove stains. It can be taken internally as a way to remove parasites in your intestines.

Well there is food grade DE that can be eaten, and there is regular DE thats used in pool filters and such, and that stuff will kill you. If you breath any of it in it tears your lungs like glass. The food grade stuff still kills bugs though, its weird. It strips their outer waxy coating, and as a result they dehydrate and die.

i have the button that closes

also, black friday, i bought a new rifle. older, used, rare :D

good for the economy and the fun target shooting

i wonder if that works on other ants, like carpenter and stuff

will enough grits makes a chipmunk explode?

i feel a need to buy quit grits and mix them with DE for fun
