The Freeman, on the other hand, is a keeper. Great blade - good hand feel/fit - appropriate size for most woods stomping - IMHO. It is a great example of what Gerber can make - here in the USA... not so much for that LMFII, in my opinion... that serrated blade is a waste. I
gerber makes a good product for what it is. Not a fan of bear though. Go survivorman!
I actually bought a partially serrated Gator after seeing it on Man v. Wild. Lets keep that to ourselves, ok?
Gerber is junk, but I'm sure they can pay Bear waaaaay more than a custom builder can!
Well, most of their folders are crap, except for a couple. Their fixed blades and multitools are generally okay but there are better ones for the same price. However, the LMF and Prodigy are very good knives.
I liked the design of that Bayley knife. I didn't like it for $600+. But I would probably pay $150-200 for it.
Anyone ever lay their hands on one of those things?
Anyone have any more info why they Bear and Bayley split? Just a money issue?
He went from a $620 custom knife to a $45 production knife. It would be interesting to hear his comparison of the two.
OK Now that some have come out of the Gerber Closet.
My kids will gift me knives Christmas, Birthdays, and Gerber brand knives sometimes show up.
When one of your kids give you a knife, I don't care what brand it is, it makes it the best knife in the world and you carry it with pride.
Last Christmas I received a Gerber EVO Fine Edge. Not what I would pull off the shelf and buy myself.

After EDCing this knife (I EDC 2 to 3 knives at a time) since the Holiday and have used it hard enough to start seeing some wear on the blade coating (should see what I can do to D2) for construction work.
This knife is flipper, which opens very fast with little to no effort. Good lock up for a liner lock.
Even though I like Kershaw as my pocket clip knife carry, I have to say I'm enjoying giving this Gerber a 555 Workout.
Is Gerber the best of the best? No. A good affordable work knife that doesn't mind getting dirty. IMHO Yes.
...........Gerber Prodigy.
He uses it several times during the new North Africa episode. I've read that he is no longer associated with Bayley knives so I guess he's back to more common pieces.
Now that we are talking about Bear Grylls and his knife. I have one question that's always been bugging me. Is Bear Grylls a knife knut?
