Becker BK10... Hollow Tang???

Anybody here ever tried the Kabar Combat Kukri??

I love the heavy front blade design of kukris and actually think they're kinda the perfect "1 tool" design.

At 8", with that front heavy design, I think it would make for a great "easy" chopper...

Smaller than the kabar kukri and the BK 4 is no where to be found. Missing that beautiful Becker handle, though...

I'm curious about it.

Yes, I have it. Seems like a well built knife but it has that rat tail tang. I’d rather have a full tang chopper.

I gotcha. Been doing a little bit of reading about that...

On paper, I definitely agree with you. And the chopping I've done with larger blades has been cool. I mean, what's effective is effective, right? But, supposedly kukris typically have a rat tail tang so that the shock isn't as profound. the handle absorbs most of it, whereas when you've got that full tang action, a lot of it goes straight into your hand...

I think I'm gonna try one. Was thinking about sending back my BK 10 and essentially exchanging it for the Combat Kukri, but I might just have to keep both and put them through the paces just so I can see!

Almost same weight...

Would be interesting to see what's what!

sorry - I was thinking of the *Link removed. No deal spotting. Not a paid dealer here* with its 11.5" blade.

Yeah the KABAR COMBAT KUKRI has an 8" or 8.5" blade, I believe. Weighs just a hair more than the BK 10. Almost same weight...

Was thinking of sending my BK10 back and getting that instead, but now I'm toying around with the idea of keeping both.

I like the length because in my mind the primary use of a "woods knife" is chopping and clearing brush. In the garden too...

I like the idea that it's light, too...

We'll see!
